Finally I am approaching the end of my time at university, and also in academia.

So what are you other final year students studying, have you enjoyed your degree/time at uni, how are you spending the last few weeks of your degree, and what are you doing afterwards?

I myself am studying computing at university of Leeds. The three years have gone by very slowly, but fast at the same time. Revision periods seem to last forever, while I can remember days from my first year as if it happened yesterday. The course has been very tough, and some of the modules don't interest me very much or at all, but I'm glad I have done it because I have learnt so much being at uni and from the course. I am not much of a fan of the student life though, i.e. going clubbing every night. There are about 80,000 students in Leeds, and when most of them go out to get ****ed, it isn't too pleasant.

I have three exams left, two next week and then my last one on the 29th of May. After that I will be moving down to Reading and starting work in mid-June. Still hasn't quite sunk in that I only have 2 weeks of university left :)

This is assuming I pass my exams :p

Good luck to all of you in your exams :)

Doing Estate Managment at Northumbria, prehaps the worst decision of my life to study it, have no intrest in it at all. Got 2 exams next week followed by an exam each week thereafter til the 3rd of June.

Dont know what im doing after, quite scared to be honest. Hasnt sunk in either that i will be doing a full time job for the rest of my life! :(

Hopefully touring Eastern Europe in August for 5 weeks which should be amazing! :)

Yeh good luck to all those who still have bits to do.
I've just finished my 3rd year, handed all the course work in a few weeks back and had my final interview last week. Relieved to have it all done.

Now for the real world :p

Im in my last year of uni at Hull, studying computer science. Its gone by waaaaay too fast for more liking. Have 1 exam in 6 days and then my last on the 9th.

Things havent quite gone to plan job wise (stupid economy :() so i think im settling for a year in teaching at leeds to fill in the time!

Good luck all :)

In the final four months of my MA at Leeds. Had to hand my literature review and outcomes in last week, and then the whole dissertation is due in for September. Fun fun fun.....

I finish next Thursday 5pm after my final exam. I am finding it hard to think beyond next week as i have no job lined up yet. I am going to the "event" planned in the Union that going to be mad one.

My last exam in Comp Science is on June 10th at Hull :) but because the job market is so **** right now, will be starting an MSc at UCL this September.

All the year 11s had their last day at work today, i've now got sum41 playing nice and loud in the office because im happy as i hated them all :D little brats (guess it's still fitting to this thread as they are students after all)

Final year at Manchester Met, doing Criminology.

exam on Monday and then my last is on the 21st! cant wait for it to be over!

Really enjoyed my final year, but struggled with the work, despite putting all the time and effort i have into it, it hasnt paid off.

Final year at University of Kent.

Loved it here, been absolutely awesome (if only the work hadn't have got in the way! :p). Had 2 out of my 6 exams already and finishing on the 28th May. All in all i'd say i'm definately ready to leave uni. I love being lazy etc, but i kinda want more from life! I want to go on holiday, have a nice car and have some money in my pocket!

Oh and i'm definately done with any kind of academic work. I never want to write another essay, revise for another exam or write another ****ing dissertation!

Anyone worried about getting a job?

Nope. Worrying will get you nowhere at the moment except catatonic in a dark room.

The best advice I can give to people about to graduate is: chill out and don't expect to find anything straight away unless you're very lucky or an engineer of some sort.

Local jobs all seem to want 3-5 years experience within their industry (which as a traditional graduate you're unlikely to have) and you'd have to be an astronaught to get anywhere in the graduate market at the moment - it's too competitive.

If you can do a masters, now would be a good time to do one. If you can travel, likewise. Otherwise, well... the dole office is that way!

Final year at York doing Accounting and Finance. Got 2 pretty hefty essays in for a week, then have 2 exams. I'm looking forward to enjoying summer (probably going to the Alps) then starting my grad job assuming I get a 2.1 in September.

Anyone worried about getting a job?

Kinda. Whether it be in the area my degree was in, or whether its something I have past experience in working in like IT its going to be difficult.
Every job I have had in the past has been practically gifted- Safeway/Morrisons were desperate for any staff. I had friends at a local pub who said to there manager that I needed a job, I started two days later, and the IT job I had I just helped out for a day helping carry a load of stuff and got offered a job :)

I've never had to go through the process of CV's and the like. We shall see though, got plenty of time to sort things out and have the option of doing the Master's degree and lecturing next year back in Stafford anyway.

just finishing Business with Marketing at northumbria, one my hand in a few weeks time then iam freeee. the plan was to go back to stoke for abit, and then come back up to newcastle and live ere.
