Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

ffs after sparring with people off of ocuk i went back into championship mode and i'm still losing to scrubs. Its my inability to react to lucky reversals and to punish quickly, i just lost to a cammy player who just did cannon spike over and over again. I was low on health and blocked three in a row, went to punch then got reversalled and lost, so infuriating.

Can't figure out wtf i'm doing wrong as i was doing ok against the ocukers yesterday. Really infuriating to be able to win a few rounds off of people like ojste then lose to a ryu player who just jumps back and fireballs over and over again.

Utter rage.

i personally think sf4 is WAY too accessible with such things as "priority" and "ultras", especially because of online play and lag. the end result is too much BS goes on.

simple stuff really pays off in this game because of the low health and harsh damage scaling too, thats one thing which really annoys me. there is no way that j.hk, cr.hk should be nearly the same damage as most characters BnB hit confirm combos... in some cases its actually stronger.

then again im still playing it... :o

I think that's what annoyed me the most about the ryu, he was winning but i managed to get in a FADC into heavy falling sky (one of abels most powerful non-ultra combos), but he did jump in heavy kick, cr.hk and did nearly as much damage straight after. There's no way a simple attack like that should do so much damage in comparison to a rather challenging combo that uses 2 bars. To be fair the jump in kick was my own fault, i keep accidentally doing the wrong level of block due to still adjusting to the stick.

Oh well, as you say, i'm still playing it so there must be something to it :/

It's all about your frame of mind. I find if I stop and think when playing a newbie I will always win. It's when I go "he's a scrub, I'll smash him easily" that I get the "OMFG lucky Ultra!" because I'm not putting my full effort into every game and am not playing the punish/bait game.

Hey....... wait a minute!

That's why i get so mad at this game. Yet again i could just be crap..

I can never pull of ultras when using the analog stick and i don't like using dpad as it gets diiirrtyyy. Plus i can't do anything with the L1 and L2 buttons my hand just doesn't seem to work that way.

No idea how you're supposed to train to get better online. Fighting CPU is useless.

STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID FIGHTPAD!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH :mad::mad::mad::mad::(

Got my fightpad and kinda hoped it would make the game a little more fluid for me.
Practiced in the training room and found it made combo's and in particular FADC a lot easier (after a little practice of course).
Been playing Tony888 today and the bloody thing's knackered already. The D-pad gets stuck in different directions..
Not physically, physically it returns to centre if i let it go, but my ryu keeps walking left, or jumping, or crouching, or frankly doing whatever the **** he likes!!!

I know e36 had a problem where the d-pad broke off (oops) but has anyone heard of, or experienced any of the above problems??

It also just doesn't 'feel' right. Often I'll miss moves which I'm sure I pulled off correctly (Those of you who play me know that this isn't uncommon!!lol. But I mean much more frequently than with the DS3).
I have no confidence in it, and frankly, it feels light and cheap.

I want to love it. I managed to get a nice rare(ish) Akuma one and on first impressions it was a big step up from the DS3, but after some propper use it just feels like it is a half ***** attempt at a pad that could have been legendary.

I'm going to build a stick purely for my own enjoyment, but it's not practical for me to use one all the time I play. They're simply too noisy.
Does anyone know of any companies who are planning to release pads of their own??

Cheers for listening, I feel better :p

P.S. Cheers for the games Tony. Enjoyed them a lot

unlucky chris, madcatz strikes again :(.

i personally think the ps3 pad is awesome, the dpad is really good imo. if i made a mistake on the the ps3 pad, i was knew it was my fault and not the pad. if you can get used to using shoulder buttons then its near perfect :D. default control scheme makes throws/FA easy, i imagine just as easy as it is on a fightpad

It didn't break off, just permanently got stuck in the down position. If you keep playing with yours I reckon it will be ok, the d-pad starts off quite stiff but needs breaking in but the problem will most definately return and when it does it will be worse. How they were allowed to release this when its clearly flawed I don't know, I've not heard back from them yet, posted my pad to them last week. I hope you didn't pay too much for it! The akuma ones were the most expensive from what I saw.

How did mad catz get the contract to make the official gear in the first place?!
On another note i've given up and this game.My stick is up on an auction site now.

Ojste, sometimes when I try to low fireball with ryu.. because I do it so fast with the pad, I do the dp instead. I agree I do use low dp too much, been punished because of it. I was glad I managed to get you with the super -> ultra lol, it's a shame the ultra doesn't fully connect when you get it right after super!

Also, I enjoy the little mind games sometimes trying to think what your next move will be, did you like the throw.....throw......throw......h.dp :p

GG's though, sorry I had to rush off. Your Balrog is coming along nice, I really hate his jab! I think Margarets Balrog was stronger, although he did have a headstart getting use to the stick. ;)

1- Wow, 9PM is the time to play if you want to easily win 4 tournaments in a row in G3 :p

2- Use quickmatch on the 360 (no filters) and I always get 5 4-5 bar games show up and can join any of them without error messages. I take back my high praise for fight request mode, it takes far too long :p

I am 16 points away from G2, at last.

Is there anyway to change the default character selection on the char select screen?

A few times I picked Abel by accident today :( (I could just pick slowly and not hammer the buttons so I can change, but that is too hard :) ).

yea jab dp is not safe at all but it does have godly priority. not good to rely on it though, someone with stronger punishment options such as ryu/ken would mean 1/4+ health everytime you whiff/get it blocked.

also lol at the throws, that would not have worked if i was ken, fierce dp -> FADC would have sorted that situation out instantly :p. thats seems like a major weakness on rogs side, he has really crap reversals. i was also experimenting a lot with his wake up options and it didnt turn out so well... not sure if my timing was off but i was getting thrown out of headbutt, and definitely getting thrown out of TAP.

ken is still my main btw :p, im just trying out other stuff atm.
