Death knell for hunting ban as police abandon monitoring operations

So by 'them numnuts' you mean motorists I presume? Oh and if you think it's all "just for fun" you know nothing whatsoever about country life or its inhabitants and ecosystem, tbh.

No if you would have read what I said
" And in a 100 years time people will say " them numnuts killed off the fox
and it was just for fun "

then after I said about the roads...and this thread is about HUNTS not cars. :)

Yes, but what you said is still a little ambiguous. The point I'm making is that if as you say more foxes are killed on our roads then:

1) Hunters are not going to be 'killing off' the entire fox population, we'd have cars to blame if that ever happened. Which it won't. The fact so many are dying on our roads just shows how over populated foxes are at present.
2) The fact more cars kill foxes than hunts just goes to show that hunts aren't simply tally ho kill seekers. They control problem foxes on areas that require it, not simply any fox in distance, else there wouldn't be so many littering our roadsides.

:)

Hunting for foxes with dogs is cruel in this day and age. If they have to be kept in check then they should kill them humanely.

Someone should hunt one of those fat slimey red coated hunters with a pack of hungry dogs!

Dogs killing foxes might be natural but not in the way it is done these days. I am dead against fox hunting as it stands. My wifes aunt and Uncle owned a farm and they would kill a fox with a shotgun if it came onto thier property but they were also against fox hunting.

A shotgun's not a very nice thing to kill a fox with. Or should I say maim and wound? How is killing foxes with dogs done differently 'these days'? I'd love to know how death by dog is somehow different now than a few hundred years ago.

As for the 'fat slimey (it's slimy, btw) red coated hunters"... What of the ones who don't wear red coats? How about the thousands of normal men and women who hunt foxes with lurchers? Terriers? Snares? You generalise so much. Clearly you're forming an opinion based on emotion rather than knowledge and empirical experience, which is always a bad idea.

No, this goes to show how may 'cars' we have on the roads and how many 'Roads' there are around the country!

Everyone knows they are Tally-Ho horse joy-riders out to see a fox get ripped to shreds. They will go anywhere for a cheap thrill to see a fox getting mutelated

:)

Great news. The legal hunting of saboteurs would make it even better news.

LOL :D Give over though, Spie. Who'd seriously want their dog choking on one of the soap-dodging, pasty anorexic lentil-eating, sandal wearing hippies? See, hunters can generalise too.

dog fightings natural aswell i mean dogs fight anyway right? may aswell let them at it and get a few posh people in the countrt side to pay to watch

Ok..fox runs into raod truck/car/bike what ever kills them.
thats all I was trying to say..which I thought I did.

EDIT= I just found this.
Q,How many foxes are killed by cars in Britain each year?

A,No one really knows, but the best estimate is around 100,000 a year

A shotgun at close range, not aimed willy nilly!!

Killing of foxes by dogs done in a natural way is in packs, wild packs. Not orchestrated packs driven by some numpty on a horse!!

I have an opinion based on facts. How these foxes are chased for fun. How hunting is 'Just for fun'. If a fox has to be culled then it should be done humanely.

Once again with the mouthing off about something of which you clearly know nothing. That is if by 'dog fighting' you mean the matching of two purposely-bred fighting dogs against each other. By definition, their willingness to fight on regardless, and their obliviousness to signals of submission in their opponent is un-natural. But that's not what this thread is about, so...

So because there are humans watching the pack at work it's no longer natural? I don't think the dogs (or the foxes) know much difference. If hunting and killing foxes is 'just for fun' and there's no reason for it, why do your family feel it necessary to shoot them? :o

They humanely kill the foxes. If a fox is seen where the chickens, geese, ducks etc etc are then it will be shot, but only if it can be killed instantly. They have to do that as they produce livestock for income.

It is totally different to chasing a fox around the country on a horse with a glass of Champagne in one hand and a mobile in the other!!

So because people find enjoyment in the traditional mounted hunt, killing the said foxes before or after they manage to become a problem for people like your family (and thus requiring a lead injection), it's wrong? Pull the other one. Dogs kill a fox very quickly indeed. It's nature's way. How it can be deemed 'wrong' to kill an animal with a predator is beyond me.

How about all those people killing foxes with a lurcher or terrier? No red coats or horses involved, just a phone call from the farmer or keeper, and a dead fox. Still wrong because they didn't blast it with lead shot? Hookum!

Should put fox hunting on TV, in the style of Arnie's "The Running Man". In fact, lets have politicians being chased instead, objective being they have to carry whatever they've bought incorrectly on expenses, like a TV, home cinema, fridge or cross/climb in the case of houses or moats.

Whilst being shot at and chased by blood-maddened dogs.

I see a ratings winner, reckong Simon Cowell will go with this one.
