Death knell for hunting ban as police abandon monitoring operations

Why do they have to go about it in such an extravagant way, can't they just shoot the bloody things?

Who cares, tbh? If they enjoy the ritualistic traditions and it gets them out for the day to stretch the horses as well as their horizons, does it matter? The fox is going to die anyway, so let them make a hoorah about it if they wish. It's their outing, their call. I'm much more a terrier and lurcher man myself, but I'd never say the mounted hunts are 'wrong' or whatever. Live and let live. Or die. Whatever. :D :p

Why? So you think it is ok for 25+ dogs to rip a fox to pieces just so some fat bellied horse mounted people can have fun?

It is not Natural for 25+ dogs to be goaded into chasing the fox and then to rip it to bits. Those dogs have been trained to do the job. They may have 'natural' instincts but there is nothing natural in which the way they are made to go after and kill foxes!

Obviously you sit in an office all day watching youtube videos!! lol You must do with such a statement above!

I thought you had experience of these things? The steaming excrement pouring forth from your mouth...erm...keyboard... says otherwise. Dogs require absolutely zero incentive and/or training to hunt and kill foxes! ROFL I mean seriously, are you for real?

And asfor ripping it to pieces, it's dead by then so who cares? They can paint it pink and call it Barbie for all I care - it's DEAD. *shrug* Clearly you're not open to reason and are happy to sit at your PC spewing bile about something you clearly have no idea about, so good luck with that. :)

That's bloody rich coming from someone who thinks hounds have to be specially motivated and trained to want to kill foxes by 'ripping them apart' LMFAO!

EDIT: As for sitting in an office all day, I hunt 5 to 7 days a week, every week. How much FIRST HAND experience do you have, again?

Of course it's OK. What's not OK about it? Do you think the dogs wouldn't attack the fox if they were feral? Or do you think they'd kill it humanely?

The dogs aren't "goaded" into anything; they're simply acting on instinct. Even if they were wild instead of domesticated, they'd still be hunting in a pack. The only difference between this and a hunt is that a hunt is organised.

A wild fox caught by wild dogs will be killed in the most brutal and savage way you can possibly imagine, as will any small animal caught by a fox. Nature is not politically correct.

Dont get me wrong, i quite like seeing them all dressed up galavanting around the countryside with their dogs, just dont like the thought of an animal being ripped to pieces.

Like it or not, that's the natural way.

You want to know what I think is cruel? Catching fish by dragging them out of the water on a metal hook stuck in their throats and either leaving them to suffocate or sawing their heads off with a knife while they're still alive.

That's cruel.

But you would justify it with tradition?

Nope, I'm saying that the foxes need to die (and will be killed) regardless. Whether by mounted pack, lurcher, terrier, gun, snare, you name it. So if the mounted hunts want to carry out their fox control in the traditional manner, it's no odds to me. They can do it that way, I'll carry on with the terriers. The fox dies either way. How they choose to do it is of no concern of mine, and not something to start frothing at the mouth about really.

A human would kill a fish for food regardless. at least most fishermen throw them back relatively un hurt.

Eh?!

So you think it's OK to drag a fish out of the water by a metal hook in its throat and then throw it back again so someone else can have a go? That's perfectly fine?

You are the one who has no understanding of what goes on at hunts! Yea, dogs will chase things. Dogs will kill things too. But these hounds are 'Trained' to do what they do.

You are so narrow sighted in your comments and views on Fox hunting. You read about the idea of what they do and think thats ok, it must be fun!

You really need to join a hunt matey. Preferably with the fox!! lol :D

Well i guess when they start throwing the foxes back into the wilderness alive you might have a valid comparison.

I don't fish, never have. I find it incredibly boring :o:D But I'll also be clear and say I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with anglers or fishing. I'll have none of this divide and conquer nonsense (not talking about you Evangelion, I mean the antis). It's the old "they're not after me, so I'll leave it be" mentality. Pretty soon when they ARE coming after you, there's nobody else left to stand with you as they're all gone too.

Who was it who said something like "They came for the Jews, but I'm not a Jew. Then they came for the blacks, and I'm not black. Then they came after me but there was nobody left to care..."? You get my point. :)
