What annoys me most...
'It will also stop children being creative in how they wear their ties'

Do this disgusting, repulsive breed of PC cretins want us to be a nation of boring, panicked robots. What next? It's illegal to tie your own bowtie to a black tie event.

Aha, one of my mates passed out on the bus because someone peanutted his tie so hard he couldn't breath.

Had to cut it off (Y)

I've never heard of any tie related incidents but I'm sure the small number per year does not warrant this to be honest.

The logic is flawed. Ban cars because there are accidents. Ban appliances because a few people die of electrocution each year. Life is about RISKS.

Surely, if any child is stupid enough to die from a "tie related incident" then that's just evolution at work. Unless of course it's at a Church school.

LOL, what are you exactly going to get your tie caught in that could result in death or injury..? Especially in a school.

They switched to them at my old school to stop the kids strolling round with their top buttons undone and their ties hanging round they stomachs

We used to have to take our ties off before doing any real metal / woodwork in DT, which was sensible, but I can't see the problem apart from that. You're hardly going to strangle yourself in an English lesson, are you?

Completely agree with it..... but not for the safety aspect.
The "short tail and huge knot", to me, looks utterly retarded.

At school there was a broken tie pinned to a board that said something along the lines of "This is all that remains of the tie that a pupil who was not wearing an apron once wore. Thankfully he was strong enough to push himself away from the pillar drill. He didn't even think of pressing the emergency stop button."

Now, I'll agree that it was his own fault because he was not wearing a tie, but still. Accidents happen, and schools don't want to get sued.

I think its totally daft too, you teach people to act safely you don't remove the danger many H+S people seem to have forgotten that recently!! Loads of stuff in schools though, could catch fire in a Bunsen burner get caught in a lathe/ drill saw etc in tech.
