Palm Pre

All the demo phones and the show phones have all had Vodafone sims in them mate, so I think its a safe bet you can guess where its going.

The rumours are also rife with the same thing. Info here

aha. looks like its voda then. This'll make it fun choosing new phone when my contract runs out in the summer, Pre or Iphone.

I've got a G1 which i love but I really want to try this phone out. However I like the look of the Samsung I7500 which is android and who knows what iPhone will be out next month? Decisions...

Seems to me like Voda have been trying to find something to compete with the iPhone ever since it went to O2. First there was the Samsung F700, which was iPhone-esque and bombed; then there was the Blackberry Storm, which was iPhone-esque and bombed; now there's the Pre, which is also iPhone-esque.

Looking at the videos, the OS looks really good - I didn't think iPhone OS could be greatly improved from a usability perspective, but the 'cards' for multitasking are really clever. However, I think it's gonna end up like the Google phones - great software, let down by somewhat tacky and cheap-looking hardware.

Have you ever owned a Palm mate? They are without a doubt some of the best built phones on the market imo.

Cant see this one being any different.

It's got a proper physical keyboard, why would you want a rubbishy touch screen one aswell?

I can assure you that compared to google phones this one looks the part and is very well built. Its a sexy device from the pics and various videos ive seen of it...i dont know if the OS itself is any good but Palm need to up their game as they are competing with RIM aka Blackberry and this Pre is probably their final chance of getting most of their customers back from BB.

Because they are not rubbish, and are easier to use as well

My Tytn 2 has a proper hardware keyboard, it gets used precisely this much-

Never.

Gonna keep an eye on this...

Found my old Palm V the other day (I know its not a phone) but the Build was fantastic... Loved the OS too (which got better over time)...

This could be my NomNomnia replacement when my contract is up..

Only downside for me is lack of GPS, just thought about that and its a pain as I use Garmin on my N95 a lot!

It has GPS.

Really annoys me that i'm with Orange and they have no "fancy" phones, I really still like the pre but just ordered a G1 because I dont know when the pre is coming out.

Personally the G1 is great but it does a lot of stuff that I'll probably never use, whereas the videos of the PRE all seem to be showing the general operation and it looks sweet. The pre is also more beautiful than the G1.
