Congratulations to Liverpool

How you get away by saying stuff like that in a 'family forum', i'll never know :D

Anyway, im not so young any more. Surely there's somebody else that takes your fancy now :(

blimey, over a quarter of their games played have been against 10 men.

was it 4 penalties in the champions league as well?

When Barton got sent off I think Newcastle were 3-0 down already, its not it made any difference.

I'm sure there will be a few more like that as well.

We were only 4-0 up vs Villa, winning both of the Utd games, the Everton and Hull game too. We were also down to 10 men when we scored the winner vs City also due to getting an unlucky injury after we've used all our subs and the Arsenal red card didn't affect the game too.

The only two that affected the outcome of the game was the Lampard one which was unfortunate (:p) and the Valencia tackle which was a shocker.

Interestingly, in the 2007-2008 season, 8 players were sent off playing against Utd. Didnt see anyone going on about that at the end of that season.

Its all very good and well to produce statistics for a season, but all statistics must be qualified. Best way to qualify a statistic like how often a team played against 10 men is to compare that statistic over the course of more than 1 season. Swings and roundabouts.

Got to laugh at the Liverpool played 1/4 of their games against ten men comments. It's as if people think these players got sent off in the first second of the game :o

Out of 3330 minutes of football we've played against ten men for a grand total of 191 minutes. Shocking, really shocking :(

so essentially what you're saying is that last season United as a club only had 2 more players sent off against them than Alonso alone had this season? that is insane.

Not really, essentially what I am saying is exactly what I wrote. That its inherently hypocritical to negatively point out that Liverpool had so many reds given in their favour, when Utd likewise had so many reds given in their favour the season before.

I am equally certain that the same statistic applies to multiple other teams over the course of the last decade. But by all means, everyone should feel free to put whatever bias twist they like on it merely for the sake of prolonging the argument in the thread ;)

you wonder if he read the bit about how many goals they scored in the last 10 minutes of games really.

Yea because matches usually end after 80 minutes.

The only goals that were scored in the last 10minutes and while a team were down to 10 men were; Kuyt vs City (when we also had 10 men), Kuyt vs Wigan, Torres vs Chelsea and Kuyt vs Hull when we were already winning. *edit: so the only games which were changed because of the red card was vs Wigan (which was a terrible challenge) and vs Chelsea (and Lampard deserved it for being fat).

edit: Its amazing when andy mentioned luck and last minute goals, a couple of the Mancs came out with sensible comments about games lasting for 90minutes etc but when a few found out that we've scored more late goals etc i guess they now agree with andy.

Kuyt scoring against Hull isn't even mentioned above in G|mp's post, have you just uncovered another late goal scored against 10 men? :o

Totally pointless argument here but nevermind. The way I see it the best team over the course of a season will win the league, it doesn't matter if they were the most exciting team to watch, the "luckiest", the "dirtiest" or whatever "ist" you want to put in there, they've been the most efficient at doing what counts in football - winning more games and therefore amassing more points than the other teams. Man Utd won the league this year, whether they're the best of a bad bunch or whether they played like Brazil in 1970 isn't really germane to that simple point.

Yes. But to be fair to G|mp you can't expect him to know about all of them with his limited knowledge of football ;)

I completely agree with you other point. To think this arguement was started by a Leeds fan, they shouldn't be allowed to discuss Premier League football ;)
