Hi ive been looking at a new case and curious on peoples thoughts. Who has painted and got a good finish on there case and who thinks its worth all that extra money to powder coat? cheers guys.

Ive just sprayed my antec, id personally advise you to only do it at room temperature, preferably in doors, as this will just destroy the final finish.

For a decent finish its what? 1 primer, 2 cans of colour and 1/2, clear.
For decent paint its £4+

Im sure if you look around you can get a case powder coated for £10-20,
as ive been quoted £10 near me :) Just look around.

Note. The finish isnt bad if you spray it in the right temperatures but ideally poweder coating s more durable and quicker.

I had my thermaltake mozart tx fully powercoated for £25. I stipped it down and gave them the parts obviously.

This was from a local powercoaters i found in the yellow pages. Most places like that will powdercoat anything for you.

These £100+ computer powder coaters are worth it if you have the money to burn, as they specialise in cases and can do custom jobs more readily for you.

i think it turned out ok from the original silver.

Oh and the gfx card does look VERY bent in these pics but in fact it isnt really.. must be a trick of perspective.

They also powdercoated the doors and the front aluminium panel ( as seen in the pics ). I will put a build log up soon showing what i had to do to strip down and clean the case, as it was in a right state when i got it from the MM :p

Oh and before anyone asks, the grey/black flooring in the case is actually a single floortile from B&Q cut to fit. I think it works really well and was only £1! The whole thing was done on a shoestring budget but i wanted a nice base to work from when i upgrade and water cool next year.

That looks good Atreus, I powder coated my old antec 900 after my spray painting failed. The place I used only cost £20 for the whole lot and the finish is brilliant - 2 day turn around too.

I have spent about £60 on paint from Halfords and I'm still worried I won't have enough to get a durable finish on my case.

I have 3x 300ml colour for the inside, 2x 500ml primer, 2x 300ml colour for the panels and 2x 500ml clear laquer for the whole lot.

Hopefully this should be enough to get it sorted otherwise I'll be upset about the money wasted really. It is my furst venture though, so we'll see how it goes. Currently the case has been fully stripped down and re-riveted and I have most of the inside parts in primer on one side.

I sprayed the inside of my case came out ok but next case i get i will have it powercoated defo.

Re: the floor tile in the bottom of the case.

I was originally going to get some sound matting but i was skint and the cheapest i could find was £20 a pack. ( i didnt want the akasa rubbish ).

I had the bottom of the case as bare metal and it had a fair few ventilation holes and 2 holes drilled by the previous owner for what looked like a pump.

I didnt like the look of this so while i was in B&Q getting some other bits and bobs i noticed this dark grey/black floor tile display and thought BINGO!

I cut it down with a stanley knife and carefully got it so that it fits flush with floor and wont move at all, yet can be easily removed to be cleaned when it gets dusty. It looks very good in the

case and is super cheap to do, so if you arse it up it doesnt matter, just buy another tile and try again! There are a fair few different colours to choose from as well.
