Catalyst 9.4 V's 9.5

i own high end cards from both ati and nvidia therefore i can form an opinion.

So why don't you tell us your reasons rather than spout one-liners that are only going to serve as flamebait.

You know, the whole "forming a constructive argument" thing that you sometimes read about. :p

I know duran irl and I was there as well, the reasons are too many too list...

apart from the other problems I got the same or in some cases worse performance with the 4870x2 compared to the gtx 280. dont get me wrong I'm ****ed off because i was excited when i ordered the 4870x2 but it dissappointed me totally. I did clean the nvidia drivers in safe mode with driver sweeper. The benchmarks show different results compared to what i got

Do you have another PC you can try it in?
You might just have been sent a duff card. It does happen, yields are never 100%! :)

well when I get in wic 41fps average and with the 4870x2 40fps then there is sth wrong there...

So that could be a combination of:

1. Not checking reviews before buying (most of them show slight increases at some resolutions and the GTX280 beating the 4870X2 in others.

2. Or perhaps its because you have a P35 mobo with PcieX16 v1.0 not v2.0 which although is fine for a "single GPU in a single slot", might not be able to feed a "dual GPU in a single slot" board like the 4870X2 or the GTX295

I feel for you, it can be frustrating this gfx card malarky, but I honestly don't think either Ati or Nvidia are producing rubbish right now.

Do you mean like this?

Looks like a patch screwed it, not ATI...

Well I didnt get the messed up fonts and I dont think a single 4870 would be able to compete with the gtx 280 but it did in my case. so I'm pretty sure it was running in crossfire.

Well thats the point mate I checked reviews and they showed significant performance increases across the board. I do have a p35 mobo with PCIe 1.1 but my friend has as well a mobo with PCIe 1.1 and his gtx 295 is performing remarkably.

Catalyst 9.5 does not work well at all for me and my 4870 in CoD4, I get like graphical glitches of some sort so have resorted to 9.4. L4D works fine though...

I'm pretty sure WiC is an ATI-favouring game so I wouldn't be so sure. It really sounds like Crossfire isn't enabling. :)

Did you try any other games?
