MONACO Grand Prix 2009 - Race 6/17 Official GP Thread

Not easy, but definitely doable; look at Prost picking off the non turbos in his Renault in the 82 race. Perhaps the Kers cars could manage to punch enough to do a ballsy overtake at Saint Devote or Mirabeau.

doubt it, even if your 3 seconds a lap faster its hard to overtake there as we have found out in the past

The only real passing point is out of the tunnel, and kers won't help you there, its all about braking performance.

But as pointed out above, a car 3s / lap slower in the dry will stay ahead, unfortunatley.

I hope you guys are proved wrong and there is overtaking :p
I bet you all hope your wrong too :D

Can't see it happening though, but one has to hope :)

Hoping Vettel can win this one to tighten the Drivers Championships a little.
Either that or him to score some points and Button to not finish

Massa 1st, Button 2nd, Hamilton (!) 3rd.

Yeah it's only the start of the session, but it would be a great switch around if that was carried through to the race.

Hamilton is top of the charts right now.

Dont forget that this is a drivers circuit, which means that driver ability will have a bigger effect on the final lap time.

I still dont feel that the likes of Alonso or Hamilton will be able to make up the time on the BrawnGP cars. The gap is just too big.

Amazing how many people think Rubens can just turn it on and beat Button when he hasnt been close to him in any of the races so far (over the whole distance)

Damn straight.

Barrichello has been my biggest dissapointment of this season so far.
BMW has been my 2nd biggest dissapoint - so strong in pre-season testing and then just went backwards as the season has progressed.

Well I hope these times mean something as I have bets on Webber/Hamilton/Barrichello to come in on the podium individually, so fingers crossed. :D

Have you got bets on any other drivers to appear on the podim?

I ask this because Hamilton was hopelessly beaten in the last race and all throughout the year, Button/BrawnGP have been the class of the field, so there is no reason to believe that Button/BrawnGP won't win this GP. Also Webber finishing ahead of Vettel???

I think LH is in with a chance of some good points here. Monaco is a real driver's circuit, and LH is a very good driver who can push the car to it's limits.

PS - I wish they still called it Monte Carlo instead of Monaco.

Toyota nowhere today, BMW in trouble as ever. Problems for RBR with an engine, Mclaren and Ferrari looking good. Rubens is the man.

Wonder how much of that will stay consistent in the later sessions

3rd and 4th for McLaren. Hopefully they'll get a better race than of late.

Button 0.9s behind Rubens? What?

Still it's first practice, it could mean nothing at all.

1/2 decent times with about 20 minutes left

Hopefully weather holds out not sure how long throughout the weekend Massa will be in the top 3

Button's last time was before the track was as rubbered in (about 20 - 30 minutes before the end of the session)

RB set his when times where more normalised imo

all the times dont really mean much so far
