Hi,

I have two WD 500GB RE3's in RAID0 and I think a drive has failed. I'm hoping if I post as much info as possible, someone can confirm if it's probably the drive or software.

PC has been running ok for past 2 weeks. Today after a reboot the POST scrren shows an error message "No OS" something or other.

The BIOS had also reset to previous (factory) defaults.

I changed the BIOS back to RAID. When I go into RAID set up I get the following info:

------Disk / Volume Information-------
ID 0
Name Main OS Array
Leval Raid0(strip)
Strip 128kB
Size 931.5GB
Status Failed
Bootable No

------Physical Disks------
Part 0
Drive WDC WD-...
Size 465.7GB
Type/Status Non-RAID Disk
Part 1
Drive WDC WD-...
Size 465.7GB
Type/Status Member Disk

System is as below (Work PC).

Please let me know if you need further info.

My many thanks in advance,

James.

If the BIOS has reset at the same time as the suspected failure then its likely that you don't have the same settings in the BIOS (i.e. AHCI mode has been inverted) and not so likely to be disc failure.

I'll double check but I did go back through all the settings again.

Yeah if BIOS can detect both drives then you might be able to resurrect the array by resetting everything as was, although from your first post under the 'Physical Disks' section Part0 is showing as a Non-RAID disk, so it looks very much as though it's lost some of it's config data.

It's worth having a play with settings in BIOS tho, you never know it may just work.

Hope you have a backup of data!
