Watercooling kit = good idea?

i've found a watercooling kit not from OCUK for £127.99

Details:
• Acetal XSPC Delta V3 CPU Waterblock with Universal and Intel i7 Mounting Plate
- Over 1600 Copper Pins
• Acrylic 12V X2O Compact 450 Water Pump
- 450 LPH - 1.8m Head
• Gloss Black XSPC RS360 Radiator

• 3m Clear 3/8" ID - 1/2" OD Flexible Hose

I wonder are these good components its the best price i've seen for watercooling? I've seen a couple of reviews for the waterbolck and its better than a Swiftech Apogee GTZ which is sold at £20 more singulary.
 
You can get a large variance between temps on CPU blocks, depending on pump head, flow rate, other blocks in loop, how restrictive the blocks are, rad used etc.

I agree with Samsung, all round the GTZ is a much better block, and there are better and worse kits out there
 
I have the XSPC Delta V3 and can say its a quality high performance part on a budget!

Dont waste your money on the swiftech, instead upgrade the rad to a thermochill PA 120.3.
 
The inc XSPC pump is for low restriction short loops.
The block is a good choice as would be the fusion V1 or xspc edge if you can find one.

The GTZ, supreme, heatkiller etc, are all suited to higher flow/pressure loops that the kit pump can not sustain.
As such they preform well under par and the Delta will give better temps in this loop.

As for the Rad the new RX360 is a better bet - it will out preform even the PA120.3 with slow rmp fans @ 5v.
It will almost keeps up, when you max out the fans too. (costs a lot less too)

As a budget kit it's a good start - and should be quiet if you run the fans a 7v or below
But it's unlike to out proform a £100 quality air cooled setup in temps and maybe even low noise.

EDIT: As a builder kit it's not good value as you need to swap out every part for a high quality single loop.
It does have the makings of a good quiet duel loop setup - but I'd only have one primary low restriction block teamed with that pump.

If you can swap the rad to the RX360 and pay the extra it's a good deal if not go custom and drop the as5 and fan

I'm using XSPC 400 pump, XSPC Derlta V3 block plus EK GTX280 Full cover.All that with swiftech 120 and 240 rads. - fans are running at 800 prm
My temps are:
CPU 26 idle and 45 full load
GPU 36 idle and 51 full load - Furmark ;)
I think there are pretty good results and it is very quiet.
I can't see a point to spend more money for a better loop because diffrent in temps will be 2-5 degree.
This is my opinion ofcourse.

You may find removing the 120.1 from the loop reduces your temps.
Try it next time you've a spare hour or two ;)

The RS range is, well, budget for want of a better word. The RX range brings with it performance and cost.

Anyway, some of the latest cpu block tests are just in, http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=224976. These are on an i7 but in my opinion should transfer quite well to all but the older multi-chip quads, and even then, hum ?

Bang for your buck if you can find it is the low cost Heatkiller rev3 LC: High flow, very good performance and should be low cost, heh, even in the UK.
 
Thanks for the praise for my overclock shadowscotland although I don't find ov erclocking hard at all I just kept going till it was stable it probably would go to 3.6Ghz but it's too hot!

Well I think that 120.2 rad can't do the job with CPU and GPU.The problem is I can't install 120.3 rad in side my case ;)

Blimey, could this mean the end of the run for thermochill?

Although looking at the RX360, it dont half look like a pa120.3 :eek:

I can second that! at least the Supreme part, its designed to be extremely retrictive to work correctly and thats why I dumped it.

Its just shiny. Design hasn't changed. The heatkiller just beats the GTZ in latest tests but its also more expensive and mounting isnt as good as the GTZ.
