TF2 Sniper Update

Woah lots of spy buffs, I really hope it doesn't make them over-popular:

Spies disguised as enemy spies now get a random mask to help complete the disguise, and their target id will be set appropriately
Spies disguised as medics now have an Ubercharge: line in their disguise target info
Spies that disguise as a player using an unlockable now show that unlockable in hand
Spies can now use enemy teleporters

Looks like a few new counters to fire, Jarate, Pyro Air Blast etc.
 
Unlock system rocks.. went on after getting back from work.. first minute.. unlocked the Amassador!

Killing unsuspecting noobs through the gate is awesome!
 
The spy unlock gun for some reason can fire through the gates. Some servers consider this a glitch and warn you for it whereas some don;t bother.

I have been having so much fun with the jarate. I have been laughing non stop with my friends chucking pee over them and the rest of the team damaging them. It so multi-purpose as you can extinguish on fire team mates with it.

Also as posted in the release notes it decloaks spies or rather you can see the pee dripping off them so you know they are a spy.

One person said when I chucked it over a uber combo was it could de-ubered them for a split second. Although I am not sure.
 
So can I get achievements in my own server by just idling? If so I'll just create a server and leave it running in the background.

Unlock system sucks.. went on this morning.. several hours later.. unlocked Natasha!

Getting two of the same weapon is not awesome!

Don't mind the random unlocking as much but getting duplicate weapons, whats the point...

@Kreeeee yeah you can get the unlocks by idling in your own server if VAC is enabled, not achievments though. :p
 
Been playing since the update came out (so hours++)
and got none of the new unlocks yet :( My mate playing on the PC to my left got 2 spy unlocks so far.
Really, really lame.

Its really lame like that.

I must have been on over 5 hours today and not a single thing

Spies are stupidly good now as well, they're over powered as far as I'm concerned

Perhaps the probability of getting an unlock is based on how many you have already? Could it be that people with few, or none, of the unlocks already are getting loads straight away while others with nearly all have to wait longer?
 
Quite a few peeps are experiencing this. It doesn;t seem time related.

Quite a few peeps I know have spent all day and all night on it and haven't got a bean or if they have it ones they already have multiple times.

Others such as myself get lucky and get the new ones within a matter of minutes.

I can bet the steam forums are going crazy whether it due to the total randomness of the unlocks or the fact they change the achievement/unlock system.

Maybe.. I have none.. or at least only the Ambassador now..
 
600 kills now and all I have to show for it is Kritzkreig and KGB :(. Yeah I know it's not based on kills... but I feel cheated because I have killed more than most people do all week!

I bounced a quick mail to Valve’s very own Saxton Hale, TF2 lead-guy Robin Walker, who reckons there’s some sort of bug in the system that’s meaning people aren’t getting unlocks even after hours of play. “Not at all how it’s tuned,” apparently. Which is, I think, the first time I’ve been relieved to hear a game has a bug - it means the problem will get fixed.
