You should really try to get to the Friendly Arm as directly as possible, you're quite weak with just you and Imoen wandering around the wilderness. There's another good character to be picked up just north of the Inn zone too.

Thats what im doing wrong then, im exploring the whole area before i go off to the inn. Im getting killed off by dire wolves and blue little goblin things. So ill come back there after i get to the inn and kill them all.

When I try get to the Friendly Arm theres a guy on the stairs who turns himself into 3 and just kills me so quick, I barely damage him whereas he just batters me

Hated that guy, had to go away and level up for a bit. He got a rear end whooping when I returned though. Teach him to block my path.

Edit: have you got Xzar, Montaron and Imoen with you?

Yeh, he uses 'blur'. As long as you have Xzar, Montaron and Imoen hes not much of a fight. Get the necro using his touch spell and Imoen using her magic missle wand.
You will find Xzar and Montaron dont get along with the two you pick up in the Inn.

Also remember BG is unforgiving on people who like to reload all the time, it will spawn new mobs.

There are a few quests to do around the inn. Find a ring, some guys trousers need cleaning (keep em for BG2!), someone want you to kill an Ogre on the map below the Arm Inn map.
Also remember (as i think someone already said) youll only be lvl 7ish when you finish the game... and its a long long game so you can see its true to D&D.

So going by how long this game is, im gonna be like lvl 1 for like 20 hours of play with 10hp.

Not really, xp needed to lvl is less for the lower lvls.
Explore lots and do side quests.

trust me. when you find the golden pantaloons, keep them forever. Then when you finish the game, trasnfer that caharacter to BG2. With the pantaloons.

Edit: Infact that goes for my whole team they die like in 2-3 hits.

Remember that the Monk is a BG2 char, and was only intended to be started at level 8/9.

As I found out, up until level 3 they're pretty much useless, and don't really start having any effect until level 5 at least. Its really tough going, just have to babysit him/her for the first few levels.

Just installed 1 & 2 + expansions, and got Tutu working on an ancient creaking laptop of mine (p3 800mhz, 256mb ram running XP - bless!). Runs nice and smoothly without any hitches.

Rolled me a lil Cavalier Paladin to run through the game from scratch. The comments about it being very unforgiving at lower levels are certainly valid, forgotten how much of a tough nut it was!

Damnit!

I had to re-install it the other day. Can't get my BG1 working (dodgy CD3) so I skipped right into BG2 with an Undead Hunter Paladin. Just got my Stronghold, managed to defeat Firkraag (what a fight!) and got the awesome Carsomyr

Its shame, however, than the three best NPC's in the game (Viconia, Edwin, Korgan) are all evil. I'm not too fussed about Viconia or Korgan, but Edwin is freaking awesome as the only pure mage...to top it off he doesn't get on with Minsc.

As the other casters are pretty poor, I guess I'll just have to make do with Jan!

Hey guys,

After reading a thread on Baldur's gate the other day, i decided to whip out my old copies of 1 & 2 and the exp's and give them a go.

I've installed them and then the easyTuTu mod and degreenifier mod and finally the widescreen mod.

My question is, i thought the easyTuTu mod was supposed to make BG1 use the BG2 engine. I've started up BG1 from the easyTuTu program, but it goes straight into BG2.

Am i doing something wrong?

Edit: Sorry, seems putting the Baldur's gate 2 disk in, rather than BG1 makes it work. Awesome
