Car todo lists....

see you finally gave in meridian

i know you were trying to proove 400 was possible with a topmount. I take it in the end it wasnt ?

Not sensibly. It can be done (Andy F ran over 500 on a top-mount for a while, but his was a drag car with loads of silly stuff), but the effort isn't worth it I've decided.

Next up will be new disks and pads, probably from Performance Friction.

Retrofitting Nav?

Just fitting a double din head unit (JVC)

I wanted iPod and DivX so didn't want to retrofit the nav system when the JVC is better. Sadly though the plastic facia surround can only be bought from Japan or the US and it cost me £400. Grrrr..........

I'm loving mine on the BMW...granted I haven't had normal pads on there for very long...as they were destroyed when I bought the car.

I haven't had fade yet and I can be quite harsh on them. I've actually found they often can do with being warmed up a bit before they are running really well. In theory I should only see fade when driving it like a race car, or as I would on track...doing silly things like 120+ down to like 50mph.

Mine are just the pads though, standard discs, from AS Performance...with a discount. :D

What headunit did you go for in the end mate? The latest craze in the 'merc scene is to install double din touch screen affairs, as retrofitting new comand systems is so complicated. The yanks seem to love the pioneer systems yet i hear you mention JVC?

Torqu'es not very good, so I need to work on that.

Have you still got the last power run graph you did before with the TMIC to put up as well for a nice comparison?

Went for the JVC AVX810. Read plenty of reviews and it always scored well, won the silver award on Mobile and Electronics News in the any price category. The Pioneer won gold but considering it's £1100 more than the JVC I was quite happy with the silver winner.

Haven't got any decent pics yet but you get the idea.

Ignore the blue lines - there was a problem with the neutral position switch. Paul also started the rollers at different revs for the two runs, so the first part isn't directly comparable.

So am I looking at it right when I say you're making less torque at 4000rpm with the FMIC, and also it peaks lower ?

Any reason why this is so, or is there something you're going to need to change to aid this?

Better Update this :

- Fit new front splitter
- Change rear discs & pads (EBC for both Green pads)
- Change front discs (EBC discs / Yellowstuff)
- fit new custom made front brake lines (Standard Porsche lines are causing brake problems)
- Get new rear tyres fitted
- Refit front Undertray
- Book a climate control system clean / pressure test and refill

Essentially yes, torque is down a little. More importantly, it did not rise with the power, as it should have done. Yes, investigation is needed.

I started a list-

Carbonio Induction kit
Rear ARB
Forge splitR valve for roy bacer ptsch sound innit
Leon Cupra front splitter
Milotec grille inserts
100 cell sport CAT
Miltek exhaust
18" Pro Race 1.2's in black
custom map

Then I added up the cost and decided to keep it standard :o

Well I didn't exactly keep it standard but I've only done the following:

Carbonio Induction kit - Went for uprated panel filter instead
Rear ARB - Neuspeed 28mm ARB will be fitted within the next month
Forge splitR valve for roy bacer ptsch sound innit - Still a posibility but will be a Bailey or Forge 007P if/when I pick one up cheap
Leon Cupra front splitter - Done!
Milotec grille inserts - Still a posibility, keep changing my mind on if I actually prefer them to the stock ones
100 cell sport CAT - Very doubtful
Miltek exhaust - Doubtful, CAT back might happen but only if the stock exhaust needs changing
18" Pro Race 1.2's in black - Very doubtful
custom map - Very doubtful

Update... Done items in red!

Want to do:

Thermostat (dont think this needs done now, i think the radiator was the temp issue!)
Gearbox Oil
Rear badge, its a bit fiddly to do!
Sort Passenger seat (had a 1cm slide :/)
Fit new downpipe and sort rest of exhaust (done and fitted with a S/S system... sounds lovely! Very quiet, lovely wee note!)
Work on body work, dunno what to do yet tho (dents on door, scratches, stone chips! :( )
Pipercross or likewise flat panel filter
Paint Calipers

Making progress :D

Have you found anywhere cheap to get the rear badge? I might do mine. Seems to be about £35 @ cost for all the parts from a dealer.

I ended up winning just the badge... well badge/mount and spring thing for £12.50! Its not the whole assembly tho, doesnt have the black bit it mounts onto! Seen the whole thing on the bay for £43 iirc!

Yet to try fitting it, seems to be a proper nightmare! Will maybe try tomorrow :P
