OcUK Poker Thread.

What really annoys me is people like that who get lucky and claim they're the best thing since slice bread and start giving you abuse.

Just started a $20+2 tournament on pkr, guy raised to something like $600 and a couple people went in, I got dealt pocket 88s and had previously just doubled up so thought Id steer clear. Then this happened:

If you're going to re-raise preflop, do it like a man: $6.5-7.5 imo. As played if you think he's bad enough to raise you again with worse than jacks you may as well go all in when you see the flop, he's not folding the likes of AK at this point if he's that bad to begin with :)

£1000 buy in , 5 day event at DTD starting today £250k guarantee, 1 hr 50 till start and only 97 registered

quick, someone lend me a grand :p

Not amused, joined a new table 100/200 blinds. Start with 10000, first hand dealt Js, 9s. I'm UTG and just limp in, two more call, the next guy raises to 32747, a couple of others go all in. It comes back to me, I fold as I don't know how they play. Flop comes Qs, 8s, 3d. Turn Jh and then the river, yes you guessed it 10s.

Going to stick to MTT's I think, SNG's are full of idiots and cash games have people like this.

Why exactly don't you want to play with the "idiots"?

Have to give this guy credit, he obviously put me on a hand and my god he had to get it spot on or he was out.

Blinds are 125/250, I have AK UTG, raise to 750, he re-raises to 2100.

I think he's got QQ but he's quite aggressive so I call.

Flop : A-K-K. - I check to him and he bets 3700 of his 13k stack, I call.
Turn : J - check, check.
River : 7 - check, check (bugger.)

He shows JJ, Jacks full.. and he CHECKED it down! Unreal.

Hmm, let me think. You raise 3x BB UTG and call a 3bet OOP, what sort of range do you think he puts you on when you C/C his cbet on the flop? There wasn't a lot of value in JJ value betting the turn or river imo, however, as played, you should vbet that river 100% of the time. If I found myself in a similar situation (unlikely...) I would bet 1/4 to 1/3 the pot.

Wish my redline looked like that, pretty sweet dude :)

Just don't go silly with it ;)

I'm gonna stick to $3, maybe $5 SNG's on pokerstars, just to try and release my bonus.

Duh, I've just noticed it's a replay! lol

Amazing to see Ivey at another FT.

Yeah I did that a few years ago won a few hundred quid on pacific, then played £50 sng's till it had all gone :(

Phil Ivey annoys me for some reason I just don't know why.

Opinions re STTs ( particulary 6 max ) ?

I am finding it very profitable to raise "continuation" bets im position on a non Ace flop ( also occasional check raise out of position )

opinions ?

Rotty, like almost everything else in poker, it is entirely situational as to whether that is profitable or not. I am going to assume that you mean bluffing with complete air here, yeah? Things to consider are your own table image, your opponents image, stack sizes, blind structure, difference in payout between positions, board texture, and how often your opponent c-bets. If you reraise every c-bet on a non-ace flop then that is a massive leak imo and you will get eaten alive by any other competent players.

I wouldn't suggest anything other than "ABC" poker down at the micro SNGs, but I get the impression that you play a little higher? Chip accumulation vs chip protection is a tricky subject especially in SNGs and I am mostly a cash game player, so the best advice that I can give is to think through every move you make and ask yourself "WHY AM I DOING THIS" on every street.

the turbo SNGs are so fast I don't think table image is a big issue and on Pokerstars you don't meet the same playesr that often

Obviously I don't do it every time and generally when stack to blind ratio is high to allow for a not too painful fold

If you think how often the original raiser has missed or faces and overcard to a pocket pair then more continuation bets are vulnerable than not

of course I am not going to do it on a drawing board and obviously pick on the players that continuation bet every time

had a few last night when I posted that and it looks like I over simplified it :p

Just got a royal flush in a WSOP super satellite on Pokerstars, ha :D

Lucky omen, I qualified for the next round too. Got into a $11 turbo event, winner gets a seat in the WSOP ME next week. Played one of these before, 14th got $200, 2nd-13th got $750, 1st got $13,000. I came 24th/740 :(

This makes me sick. Seriously sick.

I limp from SB with K3d, flop bottom pair with flush draw, turn gives me 2 pair and flush draw.. you have to read the rest of the hand to believe what he had.
