On my mobo Asus P6T6 WS Revolution, I have 6 PCI-E slots. Can you fit a short PCI-E card in the longer slot with no problems'

If you mean can you get a PCI-E card and put it into a PCI slot? Then no you cant because they are not the same type, ones bigger and and ones smaller one has different pins to the other, hope that answered your question.

I don't think thats what he means at all- but you are right that PCI and PCI-E are incompatible.

To the OP: like Phytal said the smaller PCI-E (x1 or x4 or x8) card will work fine in the bigger PCI-E x16 slot.

He means, that will the cards that fit into the top highlighted slots (x1, x4, x8), fit into the bottom highlighted slots (x16).

Sorry for the lack of colors, Ms Paint was messed up and would only display blacks and grays. =/
