CV gimmicks

I'm unhappy in my current part-time position so I've been hunting for new job. In the past my CV has always been sent in A4 envelopes with nothing on the front and having been in a position where I've reviewed/witnessed the reviewing of CVs I must say, most plain, unmarked envelopes/CVs get binned.

So, fearful that my CVs may never get read I've decided to print something onto the envelope but it's rather gimmicky and I'm beginning to think its somewhat unprofessional and OTT.

Opinions please? Would this put you off completely?

Obviously this is a first print, both the phrase and printing are fairly off but hopefully you get the idea. :)

I want my CV noticed, any tips would be fantastic.

It looks like junk mail. If I picked up an envelope like that, I'd assume some company is trying to grab my attention and sell me something, therefore it'd end up in the paper recycling bin. I quite like the all caps headlines but keep those to the actual CV itself

I'd look at it, but then I'm always writing that kind of copy myself :D

I guess it depends who you're targeting. If you're applying to be an accountant, I'd probably lose it, but if it's for a position within the media/advertising industry it will fit in quite well.

Hmm, it's a good idea, though if the person you'll eventually have an interview for is male, then you need to stick a pair of boobs on the envelope.

If that dropped onto my mat I'd bin it with the rest of the junk. However if you were to drop it off in person I think it would make a good impression :)

It's not, just your average retail position within higher end stores. Probably to a more senior position than my current.

I'm just aware of the volume of CVs received - I saw a similar idea used a while back for a design role, thought I'd consider it trying to set myself apart.

I suppose I should just lose the "hello" and stick with my name/cv/number/email.

Late 80's I sent my CV off in the shape of a 5 1/4" floppy, cost a bloody fortune in black ink AND on a dot matrix printer.

Got the job though :D

I think that could work quite well.

I would hand write the addresses on the envelope, that way it wont look too much like junk mail. Its a different approach, so I think people will like that.
