Ickle bit bemused here! Now I understand that there still is not anything about that can run Crysis full tilt on highest settings BUT:

I'm running it on "high" at 1360*768 (on my Samsung lcd) but whilst it's pretty smooth, there are times where it appears to jerk. Now it's not stuttering but every so often there is a momentary (think barely 1 second) where the frame rate seemingly drops

Now perhaps I'm wrong but shouldn't my setup be able to run Crysis at high/ultra at this resolution without much bother?

hm sounds odd. Should definitely be pretty damn smooth at that resolution. At 1680x1050 its pretty much always 30+ on my machine now.

Could there be another program interfering? Is it getting too hot/throttling?

Well even more strangely is that I can add in 16x AA and it still appears just as smooth but still has the occasionally jerk

Is there not a program that tells if the cpu is throttling? The temps don't seem high enough but may be worth checking.

probably because your fps is jumping around allot. sometimes it will be near 60 fps then it will drop to 40 or 30 which will make the game stutter. some program that limits your fps to 30 will probably make the game appear smoother

No chance, with 16xAA it will be about -100 fps, jerking like a pig.

:eek:LOL! Erm, well I was playing it last night with 16+Q (the highest one) or whatever the setting was in the crysis system settings tab... It didn't seem much, if at all slower than without really. Perhaps that setting doesn't actually work?

I thought at a reasonable resolution like 720p the game would run fine?

I've got v-sync on and it's version 1.1 i think. It's definately not the checkpoints- i'm not that silly!

hm it should only really start to show signs of struggling at 1900x1200 probably. At 720p it should be fine. Does it do it in any other games?

Have you tried playing around with BIOS settings??

I have heard that EIST and C1e functions can cause trouble when gaming... you can try disabling those in the BIOS if u havent already....

Crysis takes an evil performance hit with v-sync, turn it off.

Maybe it's not a card?

can be caused by any hardware/drivers/etc.

on some games I have lags (GTX280) which has low system requirements, but some system hungry.... playable at ultra-smooth

Also is your 920 at stock speed? It is an amazing cpu but at lower res raw clock speed is very important

Have you tried setting it on and off and looking at the difference? It should be very clear. Try going with standard x4AA and report back.

I just fired up Crysis for the first time on my new rig. I'm running it at 1920*1080 on High settings and getting about 25-30fps but it slows down during action. My CPU is currently running stock but the BFG OCX is factory OC'd. Will OC-ing my CPU make much difference or should I think about RMA-ing my 285 and going for a 295 instead?

I thought this game runs a lot better on theses new top end cards? i get what u get on my 8800gtx lols
