Well I meant to post this up earlier this week but just never got around to it. Anyway I had a bit of a nightmare end to my night on Saturday. I was at my local pub which is just across the street from my flat having a couple of pints, must have been about 12ish. I decided to nip across to the cash machine to get another £20 out. So I am standing at the cash machine having just taken my card and waiting on my cash ejecting. At this point a guy approached the machine and was a bit close for comfort so I said "That’s a bit close for comfort, don't you think" at which point my wallet was snatched from my hand by someone else. It was a complete shock and took me a second to realise what was going on. I looked around and saw a guy running down the High St so I started chasing after him but after a while I couldn’t keep up and he disappeared.

I ended up heading back to my flat and cancelled my cards and called the police who came round and took a statement. I haven’t heard anything from them since, was expecting them to have seen something on CCTV. Anyway I wasn't hurt which is the main thing but I totally didn’t expect something like this to happen where I live. At the end of the day they got £20, 2 useless cards and a driving license.

Never been mugged before, guess there is a first time for everything :(

Unlucky, next time take your keyboard out with you on your night out...if any trouble starts just brandish it and start swinging...that's how real hardmen deal with situations like this.

(From what I hear)

:D

Aw man that sucks, luckily they just grabbed your wallet and nothing more.

I've had a wallet stolen before but in a less confrontational fassion, was just grabbed from my back pocket in a crowd, felt something on my ass, turned around and saw nothing and realised it was gone.

Always sucks to have to replace all the stuff in a wallet, NI card, driving licence, bank cards etc.

i had mine taken in school. we were doing PE and i handed my wallet into a replacment teacher who was taking over the class. After the lesson finished i asked for my wallet back but it seems that he gave it to someone else....i miss that £10 of mine :(

I had a similar thing attempted on me.

When he tried snatching he dropped it, don't know what the guy was thinking but he bent down to pick it up while trying to run. He lost his footing and promptly got a kick the the chops for his troubles.

Police kindly turned a blind eye to it when I told them what I did saying he was a known theif in the area.

Probably because investigating a crime like that, never mind prosecuting it, costs about a thousand times more than is in your average purse? It's just not worth it. People moan about there being no policemen on the street and then expect them to investigate the most trivial of things :/

I wouldn't class having your wallet stolen as trivial, it's like a mugging and is very personal IMO. The police said it was being treated as serious crime and theft.
