Car todo lists....

Right car is now booked in for the 9th June to have everything done (such a pain having to wait another 2 weeks, worse than being a kid coming up to Christmas).

Although does this extra wait give me more time to find other parts to fit. :p

Well before i can sell/trade in my old banger i need to:

Replace windscreen (mahooosive crack from a stone)
Replace passenger door electric window motor
Replace battery
Change spark plugs to try and solve idling problem
Paint front wing
Fix drivers door lock.
Fix the new problem of the passengers side indicators not working.
Clean the interior for the first time in a year and a bit.

No doubt some probs will crop along the way.

New head unit finally:

An old shelf, acoustic carpet and some MDF in the shed so I can build my own stealth shelf. A sub in infeasible at this moment in time so 6x9s will have to do.

Got a new shorter ratio gearbox on the way for mine now, just to get it back on the road while I send my other gearbox away to be rebuilt and Quaifed!

Got to fit the new box
Refit driveshafts
Degrease the underside
Refit the heatshield and exhaust
Strip the rear of all interior

Drive it!

Hopefully I will have most of this stuff done by tuesday. :)

1) Buy and fit turbo timer
2) Buy and fit oil temp, oil pressure and boost Defi gauges
3) Take to miracle detail for a detail.
4) Fit new set of drilled + slotted disks + mintex pads all around. (already got the disks given to me by previous owner)

On your 1.4?

Hope the gearbox will also go on something else with a GTI badge otherwise I cant help but feel that its wasted money a little on an ATB if it will only fit the one engine, limits resale too a bit.

My jobs to do list:

Take rear pads out and regrease them and the sliders as they are squeeling at the moment.
Thats about it!

Decide if im going to use it for more trackdays, if so.
Fit oil cooler.

Get specialist to do my cambelt change etc as I dont think i cba.

Don't worry the gti engine will be making an appearence soon ;)

The standard diffs are a known weakpoint so I figure while its off and being rebuilt I may as well take the chance to negate the risk somewhat. :)

That looks better. Good work :)

How big are the rears?

Thanks :) , the rears are 255mm around the same as what the fronts were lol...:o . They've made such an improvement, they are gradually getting better and better every time I go out, still bedding in I guess :) .

That looks sweet 1CE. I thought you swapped your Focus for an A3? Or was that someone else?

Cheers Mark, cost me a small fortune but well worth it imo!
No didn't swap it for an A3, I was considering an S3 last year but the insurance put me off a little, that and other commitments :) .

I love this car to much to get rid of it now, funny how you get attached to them. Unless something goes wrong, then you f'ing hate them lol :D

haha, sounds like mine! Standard fronts were 262mm with 238mm rears. I fitted 282mm fronts and 262mm rears.

What pads did you go for? Mine are crap. Take a while to get some heat into them and fade far too quickly.

I went for ebc green stuff on the rears, and trw pads on the front, as they came with the conversion, they seem okay, time will tell I guess :) . Oh yeah, all 4 hubs needed new bearings, £110 later haha........ :p

Red stuff pads are supposed to be fairly good, but need a good warming up before working effectively.

What are you using on yours at the moment?

Fronts are whatever came with the calipers, so no idea :p Rears are just some cheapo things I bought from brakeparts.co.uk

I did have a look around for DS2500s but they were rather expensive :o

'cento:

Got a couple of fettling jobs to do. Tighten stuff up, do a bit of preventative maintenance on the sodding handbrake, check all the fluids.

Bentley:

Car gets back from having some rust and paint sorted at the end of the week hopefully, so I'll grab some pics of her then. Still got to sort out the idle control valve, and do some work on the electrics. Maybe the owner of the car will then start to enjoy it (poor guy....the car kicks him in the nuts every time he tries to sort something on it). Some stuff on it has been horrifically bodged in the past, which we're slowly sorting out.
