Anyone have any experience with children's camera's?
Want to buy my boy something that he can carry around other than a disposable.

things like this: http://www.elc.co.uk/toy/vtech-kidizoom-camera-blue/

any recommendations?

(thinking this is a better forum than the camera forum as this isnt a technical question, more about durability and ease of use! and guess more parents in here than in there :p )

A couple of my friends have bought those for their 4 year old kids and they've been a huge hit. Can't give you too much detail, but they're pretty good from what I've heard.

cool, it does look good with all the extras that it does.
another bonus is the normal 20% off vouchers for ELC :]

remember the very first camera phones that came out? Well they aint even that good.
I can get some pics up maybe tomorrow

How old is he? I bought my newphew a simple camera when he was five and he had no problems using it on auto mode.

he will be 4 in a week. using it isnt the worst thing, more dropping it / throwing it!

Well depending what your priorities are, it might be worth pointing out that you can buy a cheap digital camera for less than the one you linked to, of course it won't be quite so easy to use but might well take better photos, the Canon PowerShot A470 is available from a large catalogue based retailer for the same price

yeah, got a a470 here somewhere anyway. im liking that one as he can mess with the pics on screen and stuff.

good for you.
i'd rather have something that can be picked up and used again, rather than just say 'i told you so' and ruin his time.

**** happens, it gets dropped down some stairs or something, no more camera. great.

We've got one of them. Its tough alright and has been dropped by a 2 year old and 3 year old a few times.

As a camera, its total toss. As a toy its OK.

My 3yr old lad has a VTECH one. Pictures arn't great but they come out kinda old and nostalgic which is kinda cool. His was in the sand pit yesterday, no problems after it was dug out.

a couple of pics that have been taken would be nice if possible :]

if the quality is really that bad then i wont bother, would want him to be able to look at the pics and recognise what they are meant to be of hehe
