Ancelotti appointed Chelsea boss

Former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has been appointed Chelsea manager on a three-year deal.

The Italian left the Rossoneri on Sunday after guiding them to a third-place finish in Serie A.

He replaces Russian international coach Guus Hiddink who ended his stint at Stamford Bridge by clinching the FA Cup over the weekend.

"Carlo was the outstanding candidate for the job," read a statement on the Chelsea website.

More details and full reaction to follow.

Scolari couldn't handle the pressure or the players, Ancelotti has had years of managing the best and club football and should be able to get the team playing well.

Another manager, another war fund, he will have to win the CL or EPL next season.

Sunderland and Wigan have agreed a compensation package for Steve Bruce too, surprised they seemed to let him go so easily as I'm not sure who they can get in that's better, Avram Grant perhaps?

as a sunderland fan I am very satisified with Bruce..he's is not spectacular, but he is steady and thats what we need right now....if we can finish 10th, 11th or 12th next season, be clear of relegation, then thats progress for us....little steps to start with
he will have money to spend and hopefully will bring his backroom staff with him as the wigan fans seem to think thats their strenght this seaon

There are so many worse managers Chelsea could have employed. Ancelotti has the experience with big players. Hopefully he'll bring kaka with him :D

Ancelotti is a pretty decent manager so it will be interesting to see what he does at Chelsea, then again I thought Big Phil would have more success there than he managed so that hardly places me top of the pile for valuable predictions.

Hahaha highly unlikely..theres more chance of him going to Real Madrid...Kaka that is but then you never know with these sort of things.

I think Ancelotti is a good choice myself...he definitely has the pedigree of winning things behind him but i have a funny feeling that its just another Scolari waiting to happen....well thats what im hoping for:p

The image of the Pols in the Battle of Britain film talking over the radio in their Spitfires, with the English commander trying to get them to do what he wants comes to mind... I'm sure we'll get there in the end :p

Not too happy about ancellotti. I'm not a fan of latin managers for the EPL in all honesty.

I still stick by what i said ages ago which was we should have never fired Avram.
