which do you look forward to most?

the incredible project NATAL or the sham that is the disgraceful bit of no good scroungery by sony that is their "motion capture controller"

(im not biased at all :p)

Sony's at present looks the more usable in a "game" situation, as, like Sony said, it has buttons.

erm... thats why NATAL has voice recognition.. and im sure theyll programme in certain hand movements, only thing im worried about is walking around, you have 2 square meters of space in your living room, you cant walk more than 2m,,,,

If they had put joysticks on the Sony thingy i might have been excited about it. As it stands it's only going to be capable of on rails/stationary gameplay.

Did you not see the game track him when he was moving around and hiding behind stuff?

Aye but that doesn't give you complete freedom does it? You'd be able to jump around like a loon but you ultimately need the game to move you from area to area. The sword + shield thing just made me want a Zelda style game where you could whack opponents, sadly without a joystick that isn't possible.

The fan bit was very impressive, the archery and sword fighting bit also.

The most exciting thing about natal was the dashboard controls without needing to do anything other than move your hand, I think natal will be more of a convenience. Where as the PS3 version will have better ingame applications

Voice recognition just does not work though.

i dissagree! works on my pc, witnessed very good voice dialing systems on phones! i dont imagin theyre going to just chuck it in they will make sure its worth having

Talking bout voice recognition the PSEYE has a built in mic so that could also do voice regonition if the software allows it see HAWX and Singstar to a degree.

MS Sync in cars doesn't work well. MS' on phone system from reports is woeful, and i know others on phones are terrible too. Voice dialing on my BlackBerry is a bit hit and miss too.

You've just demonstrated exactly you need some kind of controller still along with the motion capturing and voice recognition to be able to play games. Regardless of what Microsoft may be saying, "You" are not the best controller for playing games. Could you imagine having to constantly say your movement commands, or walk on the spot just to move your character around, it would be ridiculous.

Both efforts look fun to try out though, but neither will be replacing my controller any time soon.

Who cares what will and wont work it? Its great to see development in progress. We could have stayed with this
