NEC MultiSync 24WMGX3

after reading the reviews etc i bought one, it arrived today and its getting sent back, just powers off all the time, just goes to show no matter what you spend...

nec tech support are a bit un-informed.

told me the reason it does not come on was because i never set my monitor to 60HZ in windows.

Hmm thats a bit strange because I never changed mine and its on 59Hertz, not sure if it matters because I only have 59 and 60 hertz to choose between but thought I would add it while agreeing with the below quote! :D

its awesome for everything as far as im concerned, best monitor i have ever had, cant recommend it enough :)

I bought one of these last week and had it delivered next day. I had it delivered to work as I hate having to spend hours trying to get to a depot to pick stuff up. Some companies don't like delivering somewhere that isnt the home address, but its one thing that keeps me shopping at Overclockers.

People were in absolute AWE when I unboxed it in our work area and Im certain there were one or two jealous people around :).

I use a Dell 2208 in work and my housemate has a couple of Samsung 22s, but this puts even those to shame.

I have an NEC 2107NX 21.3 inch TFT for sale now if anyone is interested!!

can someone do me a favour who has one please, power off the screen from the mains, unplug your vga cable from your pc, power the screen on from the mains and press the on button on the front, on my faulty one it lights blue for 5 seconds shows no signal then the blue led goes out, if i connect it to the pc and press the front button it comes on then goes out then the front button is dead until i turn it off at the mains and back on.

surely with nothing connected the blue led should go into standby mode / or some led should tell me its got power and is in standby ?

Ordered mine last night from the B grade at £315

Can't wait hope it is okay. Seemed a bargain.

Now for the gfx card

People have hand them complete with everything or I think I was the worst since I had no manual, disc, leads remote. It was just the screen and stand.

As for warranty you just ring up and quote the serial number and enquire hwo much warranty is left.

Simple as that really and then make a note of when it runs out.

Just received this monitor, screams quality, watched a blu-ray and looked incredible. However during the movie a Loud pop came from the monitor, now nothing else happened and it continues to work fine, just a little worried.

Can anyone comment if anything similar happened and how hot their's get?

Wasn't from the movie itself?- a pop gun :D

No :)

I'm really hoping the pop was a result of the expansion of metal inside due to the heat, and not a capacitor :(, that said I'm sure it wouldn't work if it was. Annoying to pay £400 on a monitor and have something go wrong on the first day.

What's the backlight bleed like on these monitors?

This is my third NEC, and I haven't had visible backlight bleeds on any of them (2090UXi and an older xx70-something before this one). Im confident NEC would treat it as faulty if you end up with one that does leak, but I've never heard of it.

Non existant on mine and all the people on here seem to report the same. The quality of these screens are very good.

"Backlight bleed? What the hell is that?"

That's how much backlight bleed there is. :D

Heh, sounds pretty good.

Looking to get a new monitor later in the year, this is going on my shortlist.

Wonder if NEC are going to bring out an LED version...though it sounds like it doesn't need it!

Same here bought the same time and got the monitor and stand - nothing else not even a power lead.

happy with it and had the required leads anyhow, remote is pointless.

Has somebody already pre registered these monitors that's why you ring nec with the serial number

Thanks

You do't need to register them with NEC. NEC warranty is three years from receipt or 3 years from one month from date of manufacturer in the factory without a receipt.

Trust me, I bought a 2nd hand nec without a receipt and when it went wrong I rang them up and quoted the serial number and they went from date of build + one month.

I only suggested ringing NEC to find out exactly when your monitor will run out of warranty as ocuk b -grade is just balance of manufacturers warranty and they have been out quite a few months now.

Thanks

Crapped myself tonight though as switched on the pc and the display was shimmering and out of focus. Checked resolution and refresh rate and the resolution had dropped from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080? I Could not change It to the higher resolution as It was not In Nvidia control panel - dissappeared

I Uninstalled the drivers for Nvidia and reinstalled again and everything okay again

Don't know what caused it.

Only downisde for me is without the remote changing the menu options on the screen with that joystick button thing is pretty hopeless.
