****SIMS 3****

I have this on pre - order for my daughter. I've always found the SIMs a little strange. I share the opinion of a contributor of PC Gamer that my time playing games takes me somewhere away from my own life to something very different and unreal. Escapism to something I couldn't normally or never will do, like blasting zombie’s heads off and roaming around a jeep on the savannah dessert with a semi auto mounted on top.. I fail to see the point of creating an existence parallel to ones own. To all intense and purposes, it’s pretty hypercritical creating a virtual life when one does have one in the real world.

Woot

I don't think you can change the time, it's something a fair few people are moaning about, although the opposite way around - most people seem to think the Ultra Fast Forward mode isn't fast enough as it's been slowed a little from Sims and Sims 2.

As long as the cheats like "Aging Off" works I'll be happy.

CAN ANYONE WITH THIS GAME ON DVD confirm if you can/cannot enter your serial number into the EA download manager as to install it from there?

Thank you.

Got this officially yesterday from a store, after I've been (cough) testing it for a week or so.

Although I quite often don't see eye to eye with reviews, in this case I agree with the positive ratings.

Two things were noticeable though, although I would think that the first point is a niggle probably addressed soon in a patch:

1) The appearance of the player changes considerably when changed into nightwear.

2) I'm not certain if this is a feature or a bug: When having a meal in a restaurant or occasionally shopping in the neighbourhood, the view is fixed to the outside of the building in question, while the progress of the activity is shown by a bar in the top left screen corner.
This is strange because in previous Sims iterations you were able to watch and interact, whereas this is not possible now, you just stare at the brickwork

If this is not a bug, it's quite disappointing. Anyone else notice this?

Oh, as for the question above: My version installed the game first and then the EA Download Manager. After this I enered my key for the EADM and downloaded the extra neighbourhood without any problems.

One more thing: Although there is an option for lengthening the lifespan of a sim, I can't find the option mentioned above in this thread for lengthening the timespan for individual days. If there is such a possiblilty, PLEASE let me know how to do that!

Not a bug, some buildings you don't see inside, like work/eating in town / going to the gym / going for a skill class (like writing class)

There is not a option to lenghen individual days, you only get the option to change the ageing of ALL sims in the world from short to epic

So it seems days are too quick again for most people.
Ah well, I'll wait for someone to mod it or something.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
I'll have to make a new character though. The one I created is modelled on myself, and the bugger does nothing all day except play PC games, the BOF. Just too close for comfort.

I decided to order this the other day as I fancied a something a bit different for a change. Going by the dispatch email I've received, it should be delivered today, but I won't get a chance to play it until late Friday night at the earliest. :(

I've liked the previous iterations of the Sims (well not obsessively like some people!), so I'm hoping this iteration won't dissapoint.

I had this on order but cancelled as I have decided it probably isn't worth 30 pounds for me, I tend to get bored pretty quickly and play it sporadically. 30 quid is a lot to me at the moment with holidays, weddings and the summer in general!

So, if needed, I can download the entire game through the EADM?
