***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

When to play L4D not played in a few weeks. But it didnt run. So I deleted it, and went to reinstall it.

Now when I ry to redownload it all I get is servers busy try later.

Any clues
 
Just to let you know, I now have an INX server set up with Left4Dead. Search key will be sv_search_key ocuklink once it has been fully set up and I shall make sure that the cevo config is on there, automated if possible. Aekeron, would it be possible for you to send me your config files so I can upload them to it? Also, if the name isn't being used I might as well set my server up as OCUK3?

EDIT: just seen the above post.

Have you tried closing down steam and reopening it again? If that doesn't work, select Change User from the file menu and try logging in again.

I can download portal, but L4D is still not working



Hmm Im wondering if I got it from a shop so had a Disk. Could that be why. (if yes where is my damn disk) lol



Found the Disk and it still says the servers are busy.

Try going into your l4d directory (usually C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps\common) and having closed steam, try deleting the left 4 dead directory, it's likely that it is still there from before, therefore it can cause problems. Then restart your computer, then steam and you should be able to reinstall as before. Fingers crossed anyway. :)

Deleted Steam (uninstalled)

Now its working.

last try, did you also delete the left4dead files in the steamapps folder, as these files can become corrupted and cause problems too. Otherwise I'm fresh out of ideas, unless you try again later. :(

All sorted just backed up my other games. Then uninstalled steam.

All fine now and installing.

The second game was a lot less one sided than the first, once we got going. Thanks to LinktoInsanity for loading the config for us, it makes for a much better game! Suprisingly my laptop didn't lock up again. But I think I need to find a cooling solution - the Macbook Pro turns into an oven when gaming even with the fans blaring.

Sorry, i meant the ones directly in the steamapps folder too, but nevermind, at least you've now got it working :)

My server is up and running now. The search key is ocuklink. Currently though until I get the config files of aekeron it only has one admin. Once that is sorted I can start adding others :)
 
Hello lovely OcUK people :D I was playing as "pie" last night with you guys. :) The game was good (blood harvest) but rather one sided. You'd have to say Rage et al did most of the work. ;) and the "leeroy" thing at the end, pure comedy genius! That along with someone shooting the petrol can when we were holed up in the little room...and the failed grenade throws. Haven't laughed so hard in L4D in a long time. Would definitely like to play with you fellows again if you'd have me. :P
 
Can't believe L4D2 is coming out already. From watching that video, the only thing i like so far is the fact it's daylight which is something L4D needs IMO. Saying that, i'm still going to buy L4D2

I first played Left 4 Dead last night and it was amazing! I can see why this game is so popular. I have added my steam id to the list so feel free to add me :). Runs very well on my computer as well, didn't think it would!
