Air conditioning units?!

It says its 1.5 metres but you gotta bend it and that takes a lot of the length away.

My window is about 2ft from the floor, the unit is as near to the window as it can be and theres just about enough pipe.

Oh dear, my windows is 3ft off the floor. I wanted to put it where the little desk is now and run pipe out the window.

Can you get extensions for them?

Thanks for the info mate. 5 foot with tape measure starting from the floor JUST gets outside the window  Might JUST do it i dont know

Unless i can get my dad to make a hole in the wall :o Need to drill for broadband wire soon, so maybe can make a bigger one for the pipe?

No idea how these things work

I think you will be ok but if you did decide to connect it up permanantly it does come with the fittings and bits ect for outside.

Another thing is noise, on full power when the compressor is going its loud, i dont know what it would be like downstairs vibrating through the floor if its upstairs, im in a bungalow so im good :D

Apart from that its great though.

lol, i have a small fan heater you can hear it downstairs its really loud tho. Ill see about noise, if its too bad ill just store it undr me bed till i need it :)

Ok, all picked up and set up. It's a lot cooler today, but after a quick 5 min blast it rapidly brought the room temperature down. Unit's quite small and slimline (which is nice), a little noisy but you can't have everything :) The pipe isn't the longest, but it does come with foam to block up your window around the pipe as well as the fittings for permanant fixing and a remote control.

All in all, well worth £165, especially as the same rated unit in B&Q is £199 and quite a big bigger in terms of space.

I'm happy :)

Thanks :) Bit worried about the small pipe, after my room is done i wont be able to have it right under the window :(

And there I was about to order off a £5.95 USB fan from fleabay.....

lmao

For reference, I have a B&Q 10,000 BTU unit:

Air con mode: 1100-1200w
Fan mode: 50w

I picked up one of the Argos £165 units today for the parents, and it's a really nice unit for the money, far more compact than the b&q one they replaced.

I've just moved into a new (cheap) office that tends to get a bit warm. I was wondering would I be able to get one of these portable air con units and put the ducting through one of the ceiling tiles so the hot air goes into the suspended ceiling bit? Or would this cause problems with moisture etc?

TIA

Bumping an old thread here, but no point in making a new one with so much information, so where can i get an exhaust extension pipe from? I've found one here But £45 is a bit expensive for what it is, so has anyone got any links or shops?

These are only £99.99 from Homebase atm, for that price I thought it was worth a punt, I should hopefully receive it by Monday/Tuesday and I'll post up a mini review.

Please do. I think i'm gonna need something for when i'm sleeping during the day on nights..

We got the same one a few weeks back when they were cheaper.

Noisy, but it's nice and chilly in my room now. :D

£45 does seem a bit of a rip off...

I found one cheaper on Ebay but it still seems quite expensive for what it is;

Screwfix do a selection of ducting kits for tumble driers and cooker hoods. Depending on the diameter of the existing hose, you should be able to find something that will give you another 1.5 metres for under £10.
