Free one year subscription to Microsoft technet

I just checked the site and it looks like my subscription has disappeared.

Hmmm really? I wonder if anyone else is having that problem.

Yep me!..

I got the iso's for Vista64 (with SP2) and Outlook2007.. luckily I don't need keys for em as I have em (legit ones!!).. just needed the media!.

But I got the 'Office 2007 Ultimate key' but never managed to get the iso for it!..

you must feel dumb now aye

Not really, there weren't any sources saying this was gonna happen when I posted that.
And you quoted a post of mine
RIGHT HERE containing links saying that this offer was legit in an effort to rebuke me and served only to baffle me as it was my earlier post being used to tell me to shut up when I was asking for sources saying that the offer was going to be revoked which was opposite to the sources I had posted lol so no, -I- don't feel dumb but maybe you should get off your high horse and in your own words

try to read the thread first, before posting

<3 know it alls that don't even check the stuff that they think is backing them up ;)
-------------------
As for the offer, mine has been revoked even though I only grabbed 1 key for office ultimate (I have pro) and downloaded that and vista with service pack 2 slipstreamed.
Hardly abuse lol but oh well.

Well Im going to fully backup my HDD, upgrade to Vista Ultimate from my Vista Home Prem and see if it activates. If not, I can easily restore the partition back. My XP is still ok so hopefully they wont revoke them.

I installed Vista and Office in a Virtual Machine around 1am this morning. My account had the keys and download links disabled by that time but the install completed without a hitch.

Just went to open Word and was presented with a popup to activate. 1st try timed out, 2nd activated fine.

Checked under My Computer -> Properties and Vista wasn't activated either. Worked 1st time.

I only want it for those occasions when people send me docs that OpenOffice barfs on.

Does anyone know the effect of keys being revoked? Complete disabling of the software or barred from updates + "You should really register" popups?

I will backup the VM and can revert to a working state/remove internet access should the need arise.

Here's the reply I've had back from the technet program:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the free TechNet subscriptions.

We kindly inform you that the TechNet Plus team ran a survey program.
For someone to get a free TechNet Plus subscription as part of the program, he/she had to participate in an initial survey.
Only participants of the survey program were entitled to a free TechNet Plus Subscription.
Those participants are not only participating in the initial survey, but also in several other surveys throughout the subscription year.
The subscription is given to participants in exchange for their participation in this program, and only participants of this program are entitled to a free subscription.
If a customer is not a survey program participant, then they are not entitled to this subscription.

We are currently investigating which of the registered subscribers are entitled to a free TechNet Plus Subscription. In the meantime we kindly ask you not to use the products you have already downloaded.

Once we have received any feedback we will contact you immediately.

Should you have further queries in the meantime, please feel free to contact us.

If it's any use to anyone else then this promo code gets you 15% off the normal price

TMSAM05

I have actually subscribed as I do so much testing in vmware that it's worth having full versions rather than having to download trials and having to rebuild servers each time.

The promotion code posted by ricky1981 reduces the price from £234.21 down to £199.08 +VAT. Though, the following promotion code reduces it even further to £187.37 +VAT (Thanks fornowagain :p):

TNCARE09

So, if you're interested in actually subscribing, you can get quite a nice discount.

Not really surprised they're blacklisting the keys - some people over at Neowin (and no doubt elsewhere) were massively abusing the system. Annoyingly, I would actually have used my keys for testing purposes :p

haha. I just read that apparently, there is some UK law which states that once you have been invoiced for a product, that product cannot be revoked regardless of what you paid for it.

So, I just logged back in and my sub is active again but with an actual expiry date now.
