help please wrong sata controller

i just order a Adaptec AAR-1420SA 4-Port SATA-II RAID Controller blindy and it doesnt fit into the pci slot in my Gigabyte M750SLi-DS4 board , gonna send it back

can someone point me to a sata card that would fit please 4 ports on it

That card is PCI-X but it will run in a normal 32bit PCI slot assuming there's nothing blocking the area behind the slot.

Yeah, the far end of the connector will hang about in mid air but otherwise it'll be fine.

If you don't need any kind of decent RAID functionality then any old PCI SATA card from an auction will do fine.

Which RAID? RAID 0/5 you might be bottlenecked; others you should probably be fine.

If your PCI slot is closed btw (meaning your card won't fit down flush into the connector), you can carefully melt away the end of the slot (see here, I did the same thing with a PCI-e x1 slot to fit in my PERC (using both my x16 with graphics cards, and couldn't move one of those to the x1 slot because it draws too much power)
