I have £7000 to spend, and i would like to spend it on a conservatory.

My wife wants a holiday in the USA for three, and/or a new car.

I realise i could have a new car on the gov scheme and a holiday in USA, all for £7000, but i want a new conservatory.

How do i achieve this without denying my wife what she wants, ie convince her that a conservatory is best all round.

I would like to know if you think a holiday in the USA is worth me giving up a conservatory, which i could do, if convinced.

Take the wife and kids to Disneyland Paris on the Eurostar (eliminating the need for a new car) for a couple of grand, buy yourself a slightly worse conservatory and give yourself a pat on the back afterwards. Solved.

And put the value of the house up.

Do you NEED a new car?

Have you priced up the conservatory?

Where in the US would you want to go?

With 7k you might well be able to do 2 of the 3 things.

Any car you can buy for £7k on the 'government scheme' assuming you mean that ridiculous 'scrappage' thing is going to be a pile of utter, utter rubbish.

Go on holiday.

You only live once man, how much enjoyment will your conservatory provide over two weeks of awesomeness?

Have you been? Is it really worth £2000/£3000 for a holiday that my wife wants.

Keep in mind that this is her one big wish for her whole life.

She tells me every holiday season.

Time to score muchos brownie points, plus I'd say on that reasoning if it's true it has to be done!

Holiday and wait another year for the conservatory, well worth it imho.

And no new car for that money will be any good, although if it's for the wife then meh maybe :p

Why did you marry her if it wasn't because you love her so much you'd stop at nothing to make her dreams come true?

Why does this thread even exist? What sort of a man honestly would rather have a CONSERVATORY than help his wife realise a life ambition?

Do whatever you feel is best with the money. She'll probably just go to disneyland with someone else using her divorce settlement if you don't take her though ;)
