David Eddings has died

RIP

One of my favourite authors ... I don't know how many times I reread the Belgariad, Malloreon, Elenium and the Tamuli but it was so many that I had to replace copies due to wear and tear.

The Belgariad is one of my all time favourite series, in fact my server at home is called Belgarath!

RIP :(

I was just rereading the Elenium/Tamuli a few months ago, in some ways he was to Fantasy what Asimov was to Sci-Fi for me, I loved the Belgariad when I was younger .

I think I may to reread the Belgariad.

RIP

Just started re-reading the Belgariad this week.

My copies are due for replacement, so I think I will replace them all as a tribute to my favorite author.

Damn, I didn't know his wife died a couple years ago as well. She wrote as much of the books as he did.

One of my favourite authors, I started the Belgariad at the age of about 10 thanks to my older sister, devoured all the books up to the end of the Mallorean. Then did the Sparhawk books.

Raymond E Feist is still going strong though and the final Robert Jordan book is out the end of this year.

Yup, sad news. It was his Belgariad that got me started reading fantasy as well. Annoyed me at the time as I had about a year and a half wait between each book! You lot got it made these days now all have been published for so long. Even now, if I get recommended a good new series that is still being published I try my best to ait until they are all out before I start reading.

I don't know about the idea of waiting for a whole series being out before reading it but I remember the waiting for David Eddings books to be published

By the time the second came out, I'd forgotten the first, so had to re-read it first. Then I'd forgotten both by the time the third came out, so had to re-read both of them. At that point I waited for the last two to come out before reading both of them.

I do that with many of my favourite authors... I am still deciding what to do about the final Robert Jordan book :p

I'm on the 4th book of the Belgariad again, I've lost count of the amount of times I've read them now.

RIP.

[edit]No mention of his best work in the BBC piece? The Belgariad, IMHO, is easily his best work.
