Well I exagerate a little, but this evening I was returning home from a nice day out with the roof down in the Z4M and I was stopped at a set of lights. Next to me was a black 3 series of some description.
Since the lanes merged I thought I'd take off a little quicker than normal just to get in front and as I did so the 3 series took off. Well I was impressed and nailed the throttle and to be honest struggled to catch him.
Next set of lights and we're next to each other. Pull off and we were pretty much neck and neck up to about 80, where it then became inappropriate IMO to keep accelerating, so I fell back. Followed the car for a while and it was a 335d estate according to the badge. It had a sticker of the "ring" on the back so presumably a pterolhead and the way it went was incredible. While I'm not God's gift to driving, I didn't fluff a gear change and didn't short shift to 2nd and 3rd so I was not taking it easy. I don't know the performance figures of a 335d, but this wasn't a rolling start, in-gear torque test or anything. Are they that quick from standard or can they be mapped to a lot of power. Whatever, very impressive I thought.
