most expensive software you ever paid for?

Windows Vista Home Premium. My copies of MS Office have always been student editions.

To be honest, in most cases I can find an open source alternative for things I want - GIMP, OpenOffice etc. so I find I don't often need to spend a ton of cash.

probably sage 50 pro. cost about £800 i think. i suppose i shouldn't mention it as it's for work bookeeping, but i run the firm and i do the books so it's kind of work / personal.

I love these kinds of threads and the number of people who will openly admit to piracy. And don't even bother giving it the "open source" BS.

Personally, most expensive would be Windows Vista Home Premium. Fortunately we get Office through work for delivery cost only :).

I have Vista Premium Retail which came with a computer I bought before I started building my own.. but I don't know that that really counts, I don't know how much it was relative to the rest of the system.
Other than that.. probably Office 2007 Ultimate - £39.99 on The Ultimate Steal!

On the plus side, his post count = 1024, which I feel lets him off a little on this occasion :D

I mean those who claim to never pay for software and using the excuse of everything they use is open source :). While I fully agree that there are those out there who do go down that route (at a rough and wildy unsubstantiated guess yourself included), they are in the minority.

At the moment, nothing as I run ubuntu and windows 7 RC. I'll probably buy Windows 7 retail when it's released + adobe lightroom as I'm starting to find the limits of linux photo editing.
