Best Office Temperature

Hi all,

So we have a standard office at work in the UK with around 40 employees in our dept along with computers for each etc.

The problem we have is that people whine like little girls about the AirCon being on.

My question to OCUK is, what is the best office temp and is there anywhere on the net like the NHS site that states this? I need to end this once and for all and actually not sit here sweating like a pig every day despite it being hotter in the office than outside in the summer.....

IIRC there is a legal minimum but no legal maximum.

In my experience of offices moany old women always gathered together to moan about it being "too cold" and the rest of us were left to sweat to death.

I suggest investing in a desk fan.

I prefer a cool 20c, and good airflow. Nothing worse than a stuffy office that you can't breathe in.

Always have my car and try and have my house at 16-18c. This thread alone proves that you will never be able to find an agreeable temperature between 40 people :p

You will never win by taking in others views in an office.. set it to 21 and ignore everyone. Oh, lock the controls too.

40 people? yours is post #9

:)

If you can't get agreement when surveying less than 10 people then the problem is only exacerbated with more, such as the 40 in his office.

For myself I like the temperature to be cool in the office, no idea what it would be in centigrade but as a rough metric when everyone else starts complaining about the cold I'm in my comfort zone.

as cool as it can be is best for me.
generally that means others putting more clothes on though, which in a big office (full of women) is bad.
But in a small office its fine :D

Oh you're one of them are you? :p

We have a guy at work who sweats when the rest of us shiver

Yep, I'm one of them and it's been the same in pretty much every place I've ever worked so I can only assume that the rest of the Worlds temperature gauge is out of whack. ;)

That's good to know as I seldom use the central heating! :D

That's absolutely fine by me. :D
