Six Scotland Yard officers are accused of 'waterboarding' drug suspects

Please elaborate on this "real crime".

Theft, murder, rape, vandalism, fraud, gordon brown etc, you know one of those crimes where there's an actual victim, not someone getting high at the weekend and not hurting anyone else but themselves.

I don't have the energy to argue how stupid that statement is. Sufficed to say you must live in a different world to the rest of us if you think drug users and dealers never hurt anyone but themselves.

Thanks for totally fabricating something and trying to pass it off as something I said.

i can guarantee that the cops go after the dealers who are selling ridiculous amounts, rather than the guy that takes them.

Plenty of people are arrested for merely taking illegal drugs. It's still a waste of their time going after dealers however when they could be legalised, thus minimising harm to users and totally eliminating drug related criminal activities like drug dealers and drug funded criminal gangs, while bringing in huge amounts of revenue.

They may do, but that doesn't detract from the fact that they if they see you smoking a joint they'll stop you, confiscate it and then give you one of those pathetic little "street caution" tickets to add another +1 in the relevant 'Crime Solved" column.

Well, I suppose the police have to find out who is supplying them. To be honest, people who sell drugs need that sort of treatment, and people who take them are almost as bad, feeding the gangs with easy money and giving the police a hard time. Police in Britain need more freedom

Well that's 99% of people then judging by alcohol, tobacco and caffine sales. Many people synthesise their own drugs or obtain them from a legal source like pharamacy dihydrocodeine pills, not even having any connection to drug dealers or gangs.

Like violating human rights? These aren't even convicts, merely suspects.

Of course they will, doing it so blatantly in public is just plain stupid and is quite simply asking for trouble.

Please explain why people who enjoy taking recreational drugs are any worse than people who drink? I could go into detail on why i think drugs should be legalised and distributed through proper channels which would solve most problems related to drug use, but thats for another time.

Yeah, I think someone has been watching too many episodes of The Shield. This ain't Farmington boys and you're not the strike team.

Well, some drug users also commit crimes that have victims in order to feed their habits. When my wife was still at university she was doing some revision in her house and a drug addict broke in, she was able to get out but he messed up the police officer that went in to apprehend him quite badly.

I love how he just made it into that list. :D

Illegal narcotics pose a huge problem to the UK. Of course, this is trafficking, but without personal use there would be no trafficking. This is taken directly from the SOCA website:

"Trafficking in heroin and cocaine, particularly crack cocaine, poses the greatest single threat to the UK in terms of the scale of serious organised criminal involvement, the illegal proceeds secured and the overall harm caused."

Playings Devil's Advocate, of course they are going to say that as it's their job.

They're not just making it up to big themselves up.

"Home Office estimates put the harm caused by Class A drugs at around £13bn a year. This largely arises from the profits from sales, the crimes addicts commit to fund their habit, and the damage caused to family life and communities, as well as from costs to addicts' health."
