Also if you have an excellent backup solution like Acronis then you can install a completely new OS with confidence knowing you have a full disk image of your previous system on an external HD - or perhaps you are one of those people that never backup eh? :rolleyes:

I have Acronis and i wouldnt put THAT much trust in it - it lost me 12gb worth of photos and videos.

Dont get your panties in a twist i was only having a laugh, christ im clinically mental count yourself lucky!

Lordy, yet I'm running Vista at the speed of light on a Inspiron 6000 with a 1.5ghz Pentium M processor 1.25 gig of RAM and just 80 gig HD. I think you need to check your setup if Vista is sluggish with that kind of setup.

I too tried W7 Beta with MS VPC on my Quad Core Desktop and it was to slow to die sudden. As I have said many times, if you are running XP then fine upgrade but if you are a Vista user then little there to justify the expense.

Anyone heard of this issue?

I leave the computer on over night to do a few tasks (Downloads, rendering etc) but when I wake up in the morning I come to a non responsive system with Skype displaying "IO Disk Full". All other network connections aren't working and no new problems can be started up, including task manager.
On reboot the system goes into Disk Checking and checks on consistency.

I've had this happen 3 times now, once leading to my RAID failing as it started to delete all the blocks off it. Moved the OS to my original drive as the RAID was new and it's still doing it but now to the primary OS drive only.

I've had a search on the web but it's all a bit cryptic on where the issue actually lies.
 
Hmm, impressive. Just plugged in my 1080p TV and it immediately extended the display.

With XP, it took endless fiddling around and even more to get it to display correctly in 1920x1080.

Yes, I disabled these the first minute I installed, not one for saving energy and prefer a snappy PC.

After much research it all seems to be linked into my Newsreader program, but the developers can't acknowledge the fault as they aren't testing on W7 yet.
 
I'm fast beginning to enjoy using W7 (64bit) now, after a shaky start, I've got used to a lot of the UI and what's even better is my Hori fighting stick 3 worked straight away after plugging in, which is more than Vista 64 managed!
I wuvz my HFS3 with Mame.
 
Anyone had an issue with burning discs after installing Magic ISO? Everything was fine then I tried that and ever since then its 50/50 if a coaster is produced using windows 7 image burn. I got rid of magic iso but its still doing it. Gonna have to wipe it and might aswell upgrade to release 7201 too.

W7beta is already > than Vista SP2 ....end of.
 
Mulling over installing the RC and using it day-to-day as my main OS. I've just got a few questions for those of you who've been doing that for a while.

Are there any problems at all with nVidia RAID? I've got my main drive with windows/programs and then two other drives setup as RAID 1 for important data (and then really important data is backed up offsite). I read above someone saying RAID blocks were being overwritten? Have any of you suffered data loss with raid is basically what I'm after.

Also, do people use TrueCrypt successfully? I don't use full disk encryption but just have a virtual drive setup where confidential data goes. I remember when using it on Vista originally it corrupted some of my files until they released version 6.

Finally, what are the quality of the released drivers like? NForce in particular but also the ATI graphics card drivers? Anyone having major problems?

Yes! I run a media center PC with an Nvidia 6200 AGP card, and I've experienced problems suspend/resume, graphical corruption and tearing.

As well as this, only video playback programs that can use EVR (Enhanced Video Renderer) work without screen tearing (MPC-HC, Windows Media Player). Also, Windows Media Center won't upscale DVB-T to 1080p without horrible juddering, despite the fact that Windows Media Player will upscale the recorded files to 1080p without issue! This machine will upscale 720p H264 files fine, so it seems to me there is some kind of performance issue with WMC.

I have W7 installed on my HP ML115-G5 which uses NVidia RAID. I have a main boot drive for W7 and programs, and 2 other disks in RAID 1. So far I haven't had any problems, but the machine isn't used extensively at the moment, so I can't say that one may not appear. But in reality I don't see any reason why a problem should arise.

Sounds good, apparently the NForce drivers available now are the final ones too (no longer BETA). I'm going to try it out for a few days and see.

edit: Installed, RAID showed up when I reattached the two drives (I always unplug them before a new OS install just in case, only plugging in once chipset/storage drivers are in).

Just ran the disk defragmenter and no pretty red green and blue like on XP, just percentages :( How can i know how messy my HDD is if i can see it in lights
 
Havnt read the thread where can I download the lastest build please? :)

I had 7100 and on then installed Vista, and Win 7 blows it out of the water! lol
