Probably why I won't ride a crotch rocket

Seems to me he was approaching the car too quickly, but ultimately, the driver of the car should have been aware of what was happening before pulling out (mirror, signal, maneuver). I blame the driver of the car.

put simply drivers shouldn't have to look out for someone driving 'like that'!

 Of course they should, anyone using the road should be constantly alert for hazards both in front and behind. With attitudes like this, no wonder so many drivers don't see emergency vehicles approaching from behind, even with lights and sirens going.

Lol has anyone else noticed biker crash aside that the overtake the hatchback was going to do was dangerous aswell into oncoming traffic!

It's a clear example of what happens when two idiots meet on the road. Unfortunately for the biker he came off a lot worse.

Well from watching the vid over and over i would say the car IS indicating . But i would still say if he had checked his mirrors he would have seen him . Wether he was able to react after seeing him given the bikes speed i cant say but its not 100% the bikes fault.. we have no idea of the speed of the car or of the bike . Only the chase bikes speed and the overtake for the car was more dangerous .

Persil

Luckily the law does not stand on your side. It is unreasonable to expect drivers to be aware of something so fast and clearly in several blind spots.

the biker was in two blind spots. One before the car pulled over and 2nd in the rear quarter of the car the biker clipped.

Does the biker?

Not disputing the fact the biker's riding like a nutter, but the car would probably not have been able to notice the biker anyway.

However, if the car had indicated it's maneuver the biker may have avoided a tragic fate.

Also, I'm not trying to say it's the driver's fault, imo it clearly isn't.

I blame the driver of the car.

I don't think is any question that the bikers actions contributed significantly to this accident. He was riding at an inappropriate speed, and was clearly too close to the car to avoid it, since oncoming traffic prevented him leaving a safe gap. Either the biker or the car driver could have prevented this accident IMO, but I suspect the biker would have come a cropper sooner or later.

If I did that in my car I would be without doubt in anyones opinion at fault, including my own. I loved biking and would love another one but this never at fault attitude when a car is involved in a birk accident is pretty irritating.

He's braking the speed limit in oncoming traffic overtaking multiple cars in short succession and isn't giving them much birth. The biker wasn't accounting for hazards with which the cars in front might face, they may have been avoiding debris in the road etc etc.

We as vehicle enthsiasts push the limits of what the average road user would adhere to and if it all goes **** up we can only be held accountable.

:(

Looking at the video, the car pulls out without looking, although as has been said, the bike shouldn't have been going that fast and just assuming he can over take either.

RIP. :(

We know car drivers are often a bit in attentive and can miss seeing things hence the whole think Bike and look twice campaign. This was an ambitious overtake from the bike though in my eyes. What are the rules for overtaking on those road markings into incoming traffic, they probably all deserve punishing. I hate these 3 wide roads as they are quite fast moving and encourage overtaking when traffic is oncoming. I think they are some of the most hazardous to drive on.

The car in my eyes seemed to be moving out before the bike had cleared the previous car. So probably the biker was hidden from view when the mirror was checked. You cannot monopolise the "overtaking lane" from miles back and the biker should have been aware of things especially if you want to go at very high speed/acceleration, the bike should have picked up and been aware of the cars signal and movement.

I see it quite a lot on the road bikes and card alike indicate as they are pulling out which isnt really much of a warning lol.

he might well of done. the video is poor quality at that distance. But there is a touch of orange before the bike hides the rear lights. who knows if he was indicating.

Looking at it closer just before 2:19 in the OP video I think there is an indicator light going.

I think my thoughts have to go out to the driver of the hatchback and the camper van. God knows what they've had to go through because of this.

They appear to have no concern for the fact they near-deafen motorists in one ear when they hurtle past, 3 feet from my open window at 100mph.

I love that noise!

Infact if i see theem coming i wind my window down just to hear it :D

Its only when i havnt checked my mirror in a while and i dont see them that it scares the crap out of me:p

Do the majority of sports bike riders regularly do sustained stints of of 150-170mph on dual carriageways?

I'm sure the bikers family feel so much better that the car driver might have used his mirrors, but the bike might have been in a blind spot. I guess that means you don't bother considering blind spots when you start overtaking manoeuvres?
