PCW Magazine Dead

Welcome to the age of Blogs and Podcasts.

The Internet killed the Print Star. In my mind and in my car we've gone to far we can't rewind...

Most magazines will disappear me thinks... I used to read quite a few magazines but now everything is online, so it's usually a waste of money :p

There's no real need for print papers/magazines any more, all information is freely available to you online everywhere.

I am quite in awe sometimes at the fact that I have access to the sum of all human knowledge wherever I am*.

I don't think magazines will go. This forum is very tech savy and as such will ahev a distorted view. But I know a few are like me.

Internet if I know the exact thing I'm looking for.
Magazine if I want comparison reviews, not entirely sure what I'm looking for and general browsing.

a lot of the newspapers are thinking of charging now though, at least for some content. I would rather buy a copy than an online subscription if I were to read large amounts of news. My eyes get too sore working all day on a PC then reading it all would be too much.

Ah crap, that was the best remaining PC magazine on the market. My sub to it expired just two months ago too! Superb magazine with superb editorials :(

Used to buy a lot of magazines, but recently very few. Though I do like to actually physically hold something and read it on occasion, and as such much prefer to read a paper book rather than an ebook.

Sometimes I don't mind buying magainzes, but the problem is with their print cycle of one month, often times especially in the world of IT related products, the information contained within is out dated. The same on movie, game and music reviews. You can't exactly wait for them to release their review or demo's before deciding to buy or not.

One of the problems (especially given the current economic climate) is the cost of these magazines.

You can find a lot (but not all) of it on the Internet for free.

Maybe the Kindle (or Kindle like deices with Internet access) can save these magazines/newspapers?

Sad to see them go really, but overly not that bothered. I only buy the occasional magazine now, they are just so dam expensive

Have they discovered the interwebz in Middlesbouugh yet? :D

I don't think magazine content will go, but I feel that some sort of Amazon Kindle type device (in 4-5 years time) that acts as electronic paper, whereby you can download the latest issue's colour rss page via wi-fi will become technologically able.

The iPhone is already dabbling in that market, well, in terms of it's usable and nice interface.
