While its a good game if you've only briefly played the previous games I'd say its not worth a purchase. Its got its head very firmly up its own arse which while great for fans isn't good for people who haven't played every game so far.

True. Its still playable but it would be like watching the latest LOST episode without watching any of the other episodes first so you know whats going on. :/

Aye but storyline and cut scenes is about 80% of this game (not saying its a bad thing, but it is what it is).

If you aint playing MGS for the storyline, then don't bother. The gameplay doesn't hold up enough on its on. Even though MGS4 plays the best out of the series, its still clunky and frustrating at times.

I suggest watching the Gametrailers.com story videos or read wiki a few times over.

I dunno, there is still about 8 hours gameplay if you skip the cut-scenes on the first play through, probably a lot more if you are on a harder difficulty. I still think the game holds its own, still awesome to play imo.

Its a very good game, I bought it about 4 month ago and never really started playing it to a few days ago. My only issue with it would be the length of the cut scenes. I put it on last night and almost half an hour later I was still watching the same cut scene and at that point I gave in and skipped the rest of the scene. I'm on act 3 now and I have watched over an hours worth of cut scenes.

one of the best game franchises ever to come out..all the metal gear games are good,including the one from 1987 on the msx computer...grab it for a tenner,well worth it
