Should I get a PS3

If you already have a 360 then NO!

the 360 is already better and its only going to get better because of that new motion camera tech which is coming out for it..

Did you even see this years E3? Microsoft owned Sony in everyway possible.

Fanboy.

YEP, I wouldnt bother getting a PS3 if u have a super duper PC! , I was tempted though..................choice is yours wether u wanna be out of pocket, PS3 + Games 'n' all that jazz malarky! :)

Both of these posts are nonsense!

All of the best games on the PS3 are exclusive for a start.

I have a very high end PC, an Xbox 360 (or two), and a PS3. None of them are replacements for each other.

I still believe that to get the full experience of the games coming out at the moment, you cannot own one console, every machine has games and features that make it worth only, regardless of what you already have.

Should you get a PS3? If you want to play the games that it runs then, yes!

The 360 has a good few jRPGs on it, the reception of some of them is another thing though. I think the likes of Star Ocean (which I could have called since I found SO3 rather uninvolving, same from the PSP remakes), Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant were middling at best. The likes of Eternal Sonata and Tales Of Vesperia you'll be able to get on your 360, if you do get a PS3 you'll be able to get them on that with additional content (The TOV added content sounds nice).

Everything pales in comparison to Valkyria though. One of the few games to give me a real buzz to play. Sheer enjoyment from beginning to end. Really well done. You can get a demo off PSN, but it barely gives you an inkling into the game. Implies that its a breeze to just waltz through the missions, its not.

I would keep your eye out for Demon Souls though, people are really liking it as something a bit different. Its meant to be hard, proper hard, but satisfying in the same respect. Nip onto Eurogamer and check out the thread in the PS3 forum to get an idea from people playing it.

There is some great stuff coming up I'd say that is exclusive, and the cross platform bits you could probably grab on your PC.

The PS3 is definately worth getting with some great exclusives but this point is completely wrong.

Fair point; just had a look through the Xbox 360 RPG games and there are more JRPGs than I expected; I'd always seen more "western" RPGs touted for the 360.

Heh, I know. With the PS pedigree you'd think the PS3 would have all the jrpgs locked down but MS first did well with Mystwalker (Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are both superb) then getting cheap dev kits out early to nab ES, EA, ToV, TLR, IU, PSU and SO either exclusive or timed. I'll agree in the grand scheme their various merits are debatable but I've enjoyed them enough to finish them all; other than SO and ToV which I've not played yet.

This all being said the PS3 did very well getting Valkyria Chronicles exclusive but I'm still holding out on a 360 port at some point especially with rumours of a number 2.

Anyone that enjoys games and is this much of a fanboy is trying way too hard to be a fanboy. Are you telling me nothing that Sony showed interested you at all? You are either a hardcore microsoft fanboy or just posting the ovbious troll baiting fanboy post to get people to reply to you.

To answer the OP question... No, don't buy a PS3 if all you want to play is a few games. The 360 has more RPG's and JRPG's than the PS3.

I think anyone can get by with a high powered gaming PC and 1 console. Its overkill to have 2 consoles and a high powered gaming PC.

Up to you if you have the money then I don't see why not. In terms of JRPG there is still Valkyria Chronicles, Folklore, Eternal Sonata, Disgaea 3, Cross Edge (looks crap though), Demon's Souls on PS3, as well as White Knight Chronicles due, FF XIV is exclusive as well. There are a number of other titles as well, Zill O'll has a sequal announced as exclusive as well as Atelier Rorona.

do you like the current exclusives?
do you like the upcoming exclusives?
is there enough there to justify the price?

answer = .........

If you got the money to buy one, buy one.

Use the PS3 for exclusives and the 360 for everything else, that's what I do.

As said, but also use the PS3 for its fantastic media playback.

This and this. :)

I use my PS3 more than my Xbox, but use it less for games. :)

Media streaming + Play TV + Bluray = All in one media package perfect for my needs. :)

well ive had my ps3 from day one when they came out i got a jap 20 gig model cost a lot of money.
ive since upgraded the drive to a 320 gb and its one of the best all round machines u can own id say. ive got all my family photos and music and some films on there i also like the fact is has free online play and u can stick any laptop sata drive in, i think what microsft charge for there 120 gig is way to much.

ive had a 360 and i sold it on. but i shall be looking again when forza 3 comes out, its like people say there is always going to be some titles that u will want to play that will need a different machine.

/palmface

ive got both consoles and they are just as good as each other

got my 360 for gow, halo etc

ps3 for mgs, killzone etc

if you got the money, get one, they are a nice piece of kit.

The women love PS3, If you own one, Women come around begging for love! BEGGING! It can become some what of a hassel to be fair, But fear not I see you already own a 360, So the magic won't work unfortunately, as the 360 is like a woman repellent. So you'll just be neutral with both consoles. So @op if you've had no luck with women lately, its down to the 360 only choice that you've made, Sell the 360 and Go PS3 only to become a stud, or get both and be neutral and let your good looks and stunning bod do the talking

I know it is a bit of a stupid question but I need someone to talk me into buying a PS3 so that I can play MGS, Uncharted and some Japanese RPG exclusive that sounded very intersting. Even though I owne a 360 and a PC I am not too excited, apart from a few cross platform titles, about what has and what is going to be released this year.

I was hoping for a price drop or decent bundle that included the above games.

The summer is not the time for consoles.

I'd say chuck the 360 in a cupboard, don't even think about a PS3 and get yourself outside - in the sea, on a bike, up a cliff... Think about it again when the clocks to back.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first 140,000 to bag one, when they were launched in Nov06, and so good is it, that i went out and bought another. There's not a day that goes by where it's not used.. Maybe not always for games, but as a media center, bluray player and of course as a games machine, it's second to none. I also have a decent 'ish PC and 360, the PS3 gets the most use out of all of these. Overall... (PC being compared for gaming)

So in a nutshell yes.
