i know for many, this is a song and a lot of people will say that this is just plain wrong, but this is by far one of the best covers i have heard, i love the way the feel of the song is changed, it's made to feel a lot more erie feeling and i found myself paying a lot more attension to the lyrics and their meaning to the original, i found the original just slightly too cheery, maybe its just me.
Always enjoyed Led Zeppelin's Lemon Song which is mainly a cover of Killing Floor by Howlin' Wolf. Jimmy Hendrix did a cover of it at roughly the same time but Zeppelin's version was much better. Sleazy, filthy and magnificent.
My band have started doing a cover of Pokerface as well, though we've thrown a bit of Alice Cooper's Poison in there too.
Disturbed - Land of Confusion
Slayer - In a Gadda Da Vida
Cradle of Filth - Those Who Died, Black Metal, Devil Woman and many others
Presedents of the USA - Video Killed the Radio Star
Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons
oh and Hounds of Love by the Propellerheads <-- Awesomeness!!
oh...and everything by Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine
i totaly forgot about this cover and a few of the other mentioned, i thought Becks version was really good, eternal sunshine is a pretty good movie too.
