[Shameless pimpage] Not bad for a 25-year-old.......

Agreed Drexel that is a fine looking Golf, but the plates look wrong on anything non vintage!! I mean 25 years is old but you need to be pushing 40 to get those sorts of plates :D

Looking good Dex, paint looks really smooth from those pics (but mind saying that they can hide a 1000 sins :p)

Get it up ont moors or something get some proper sunset pics :)

I'm 33 ;)

In my defence, I didn't actually buy those plates, they came with the car but not fitted. I decided to see how they looked one day and liked the look, so they stayed.

I can see how they aren't to everybody's tastes though :)

In all honesty it is remarkably smooth. There are a couple of tiny rust patches (small bit on the roof, and another small bit next to the rear side window), and there is a small 'ding' on the bonnet, but other than that it is amazingly clean, no dents or dings, and very smooth paint. I don't think it's the original paint though, I'm fairly sure it's been blown over at some point.

thought of getting updated doors? always preffered the mirror at the front and the full size window.

looking good for an oldy though. :)

Nice, again apart from the plates. :)

Still it could be worse, you could have those god awful faux-Deutsch ones.

Agree totally, you can get a fixed penalty notice for them too if a particularly bored copper pulls you over. Seen it on Road Wars so must be fact :)

Yeah I'm aware of the legalaties. Police round here don't seem arsed by it though :shrugs:

Meh, they suit the car imo, I think its just people going all PC and law abiding on the internets casue someone else has expressed their disgust in the past.

The front plate will look awkward without a recess but there's not much that can be doen about that. Glad you're enjoying the car, nice to see when things are tight you can still get a clean fun car for a few quid and not look back too much at your previous turbo jap catalogue.

My car is roughly the same age and doesnt look in that good nick, no fair! :( Has it had a respray Drex? It looks fantastic! And are those alloys off an RS ford? (Expensive?)

I'll have to get a pic of a MK2 that belongs to a lad who works in the local tesco's, which also looks pretty damn good. Shame he's got a lawnmower engine it though :p

As I said earlier, I'm pretty sure it's had at least a 'blow over' at some point. The wheels are Ronal Turbos, not particularly expensive, getting rarer to find now though I think.

Very very tidy DreXel, Always fancies a mk2 after i rebuilt one with my uncle. will have to get around to driving one properly oneday.

I don't know who you are anymore Drex, get something Jap:p

Unfortunately you do not qualify for any Foxpraise because of your black plates. Sorry :(

Surely you wouldn't have praised a hatchback even if the plates were nice GB ones?

Some cars just suit the black plates.
Can you imagine the horridness of modern plates on this?

I'm 3 years out of the black plate zone :p

I think the blackies suit the golf down to the ground :)
