new internet tax

Get stuffed.

Help bring next generation broadband to the whole country by scrapping ID cards and ploughing that money into the scheme.

Alternatively or even as well as, target those that can work but won't work and use those savings to fund this.

So I have to pay so that other people can have "next-gen" broadband?

Why not scrap some other projects like ID cards and the like to fund this?

You what?

Forgot to finish the sentence. Lets try again.

I wouldnt mind paying extra if the general speed of the internet we get over here increased. If 24mbit was standard instead of sub 8mbit I wouldnt mind paying more. But the current setup how about no.

I never did business studies at school, but surely the whole point of charging the customer for a service is to provide said service, line your own pocket and create capital for future upgrades to keep the business going. So why do we need to be taxed ontop of a service we already pay for and most of us get?

There is no reason. It's just down to shower of **** that's known as our Government knowing damn well that we won't do anything about it bar bend over, part the arse cheeks and take it like a good 'un!

I don't even get what I pay for as it is!

And you know that year on year this Tax will rise as 50p here and there is one hell of an amount.

What's the bet this is used to bring the Internet to the unemployed...

If it was to happen, its another Tax that everyone will have to pay,
(Like Tv License, Which half of the populaton hate to pay) ...

It's bad enough with the current what we are paying atm. But to pay 50p just to have better service is taking the ****. Im just better of what im currently paying for.

What I can see happening is rogue isp's being setup where people get untaxed internet over wifi, and why does the tax only apply to phone lines and not satellite or hsdpa?

BT have had the monopoly let them pay for it. They have dragged us behind all the other countries and supplied a sub standard level, they should be made to pay.
