***The Official iPhone 3.0 Thread***

i'm on simplicity and its working fine :)

settings are mobile.o2.co.uk
username and password left as standard.

Couple of things with the update that have annoyed me.

1. Cant disable push on an activesync mail box...before I could disable the push on my work email account. Now I cant...Inbox is ticked and you cant remove the tick
2. Passcode. Before you could say, dont prompt for passcode unless inactive for x mins. Now the only option in immediate. Why give the option if theres only 1 choice!!

Am I just missing an obvious setting or something with these 2 things?

Does the new version not include video recording? Or is that only on the 3G S???
Pathetic isn't it? It's only for the 3Gs, even though the thing is well capable of doing it. Voice recording is 3Gs only too.

Yes, I can do both on mine?

If you go to mail, fetch new data, advanced you can set it per mail account? I have all the normal options.

The standard passcode options are there for me too, i've set it to 1 hour.

I wouldn't say it was pathetic considering that the video recording really isn't up to scratch on the 3G. Why would they want to encourage what would be a massive torrent of moaning about how bad it was? They want their products to 'just work'. The video that I have managed to get off my 3G has been frankly appalling by todays standards.

OK, i was being an idiot with the push...on the same screen as the "fetch" option it lists your mail accounts and I was looking in there. Theres a bit for push where you can select which folders to be pushed but you couldn't de-select inbox.

Just gone back in to passcode and the options are now there....that was really weird i sware it only gave me the immediately option.

You didnt hack my phone to reveal these options did you ;)

Downloaded the thing in 16 minutes and installed after 4 retries. I must be lucky :p

Nice little changes. It's faster too (loading apps etc takes less time). I need to check out the bluetooth options now.

See that's the thing, it is just dependant on your source. I've taken quite a few vids with cycorder and they looked decent enough. I wouldn't exactly call VGA video recording state of the art so I don't get why apple are getting uptight about it. The 2mp lens on the 3G can record and does a good job tbh.

They're just trying to keep the gap between the two models as large as possible.

What do you mean by source? The vids I've taken with cycorder made it look just about suitable for a well lit emergency but no better. Being a premium product, can you imagine the amount of grief they would get from less technically understanding people (and also the hoardes of blinkered fanboys) complaining at the quality?

MMS I won't use, check.
Listen to my own voice, check.
Slightly changed recent contacts, check.
Still slow, check.

I was expecting some major speed updates but my iPhone is still slow and I've noticed no new features that I'm going to use :(
