My discounts break Virgin Media's computer system!

I'm paying £30 for basic everything on VM, am I being a soft get?

It depends. I should point out I was out of my original 12 month contract when I got the first deal.

If you are out of your 12 month contract then yes you are soft. If not then there isn't much you can do - yet!

I've also just scrounged 2800 minutes 3 to 3 on my contract, so all in all I get about 3550 minutes per month, 150 texts and 'unlimited internet' from 3 for £33 a month..

O2 do 600 minutes and 1000 texts and unlimited internet for £20 a month sim only without any discounts, if your not using all those minutes/texts then it could save you £156 a year.

Stupid question, how do you know how long you've had your contract? I moved into this flat about a year ago but can't really remember when I opened the account.

Ring them up, get through to Retentions (avoid Customer Services) and they will tell you they cannot give you a discount if you are in the initial 12 months.

is 50mb available in Derby now then?!

Yes and it is not traffic shaped (for the moment) but I think it is a little pricy* and a tad overkill for me.

* Even with my discounting skills. :D

It wasn't available here last I asked, which side of Derby are you?

Anyone know if this is possible if your contract has already started with T-Mobile for example? I have a terrible contract (200 minutes 200 texts with C902 free for £20 a month) and have friends getting much better plans for the same price.

Blag them thats all you got to do.
I dont know how long you been with VM but dial 150 and when the lady says
"If your thinking of leaving us" go for that option and start blagging.

I get a 10Mb/XL phone/XL TV with a V+ box for £44 a month
and last week I moaned about the V+ box so they are sending me out a Samsung one.

blagging is good..

Are they sending out the new V+ Samsung boxes willy nilly? Wouldn't mind trying the Samsung V+ as our SA V+ is painfully slow .

we told them we wanted our internet cheaper or we would leave. they wouldnt comply so we errr left. it then took them 9 months for them to realise wed not been disconnected and had been getting free internet... they then sent us a letter offering the cheap internet we wanted in the first place. madness

What I did was I went on there newsgroup and posted in the TV section
that my V+ was getting pixelisation when I press the pause button and un-pause it to watch.

They come back to me saying they would send out a tech guy at such a such a dat/time
I said leave it fo rnow as I am busy with one thing and another.
Then I post links from google about my problem and saying
"I dont want the same model because by the looks of things they all have the pixelisation problem"

After a few days I re-posted and said I had have enough I need another V+
but not the same model. So the are sendimg a guy out to change it for the Samsung :)

You have to go on at them a bit and plead to there better side.

Phone Virgin Media as I want to increase my broadband from 10MB to 20MB (I considered 50MB but it is still a little too pricy even with my discounting skillZ!).

I have a load of discounts on my account from when I blagged Talk Unlimited, XL TV, V+ and a extra V Box including an amusing -£10 for having the second box rather than being charged for it.

So the guy says he can do me the upgrade to 20mb for an extra £10 and then tries to enter it into the computer and it just goes BOING! He looks at my discounts and says: "I have never seen an account with so many discounts on" and then has to force the computer to accept it.

The amusing part was I was willing to drop down from XL TV or XL Phone to keep the costs down but because of my complex discounts that would have made it more expensive as he would have to have removed some of them.

So I have gone from £30 to £40 for all that!

Me 1 Virgin Media 0

I also got £200 of my home and car insurance bill (£100 off each) by phoning Direct Line and blagging.

If you just pay what they ask they must have seen you coming!

Consumer is king!
i can beat you one year free line rental, talktalk 2 plus international call 36 countries and free anytime local calls all for £0 oh btw each month my account goes in to - by around £2.
:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

i win

I plan of trying my best to get 50mb tomorrow, any tips?

I'm currently on 20mb for £25pm with no other services, will of had it for 12months in July and will be moving house around the time the 12months are up.

EDIT: Also anyone know the number to phone for broadband relocation etc.? Obviously I'm not calling their generic 0870 number!

According to Virgin website:

To avoid 0845 charge enter that number into www.saynoto0870.com and you get 0151 477 7590 (Virgin Broadband faults & support)
