Post your bikes thread

I think a 400 will be ok, but at 14 years it's worth checking it's been cared for. I don't know how Kwaks age, so I'm not sure of particular things to check for. Engine-wise I think a 400 will be a good size for a first bike.

Well the guy i agreed to buy the bike from has decided not to sell it to me and sold it this morning instead.. was picking it up tomorrow ffs!!

So annoyed.

I know this is post your current bike, but just posted these elsewhere so thought I'd spam in here... some of my old bikes. (the dude with 80s curtains hair is me bro who bought TZR from me)

Here's my old 125. They had pulled the front wheel back out to stand it up in the yard, it was fairly wedged in the radiator after the smash.

ouch, what happened and were you ok ?

weird little bikes, half scooter half real bike

I always thought it was a real shame the only two stroke DNA was 50cc- the 125 was a rubbish thrashy little four. That thing could really have done with a 125/180cc stroker motor- like a road-legal mental minimoto tool. I'd have bought one for sure...

BTW Nice collection of strokers in your history Flukester- Particularly the TDR, always fancied one of those!

Thanks m8, both of them blew up though, the TDR within 2000miles of new :(

TDR was a wicked bike though, had a rev counter between your legs on tank, stare at it in first gear and you suddenly had huge wheelie off the power, very rapid till about 90mph

Everything was going fine in the design department until they decided to give it a straw to drink air through / letter box on the front :p

I can talk though, my bike has a beak like big bird  :D

lol, yeah in 2000 ram air was a new concept to kwak so they designed a one of a kind monocoque frame with hole ready for cool air to airbox but forgot where to get it from, so just shoved that pipe in front.

kinda look mean in a postbox kinda way... mirrors are like marmite also

can anyone give me their thoughts on a Honda CBR600F? just went to see one.. seems alright, im just not sure for a first bike (will be restricted) also its 1993. Some opinions would be great :D

thats a pretty old bike, was good in it's day though.

you mean restrict to 33bhp ?, I'm surprised there is a way on a older machine and the bike would feel aweful..

thing is with sports bikes, anything pre 1996 (pre blade) was relatively tame and very heavy, then the world turned upside down with the blade and everything got a lot more interesting :)

then again in '98 the R1 came along and nothing has ever been same since :D

I have a CBR 600 F5 (2005), so im not really sure if i can comment on the previous models. But my CBR just does everything i want, the combination of power with so much comfort.

Excellent bike

I had a '94 CBR600f a couple of years ago when I first returned to bikes. They are a great first bike to be honest. As Flukester says they are heavy and a bit dated, but if you haven't ridden a modern 600 it will still feel like a rocket ship (although not sure about a restriction), and should be pretty reliable.

I won't sell my '93 CBR600F, I've got other more powerful and modern bikes in the garage, but I still go back to it and have a blast on it. It's a fantastic bike.

Not as much peak power as a modern 600, but it does have more bottom end grunt. 185 Kilos (dry) isn't exactly lardy either.

Incidentally GRS Sportbikes in Bournemouth has a half decent '92 33bhp-restricted CBR600 for just under a grand. (I have no affiliation with them, but was in there the other day getting a bike serviced, and was tempted myself!) The restrictor kits are straightforward to remove when your licence allows.
