Carcraft

Have a look through the original thread, it's not like people didn't offer sound and honest advice, even going as far as almost begging him to see sense. He chose to ignore it all. A lot of people tried

Fair enough, but posting on a forum is A LOT different to sitting someone down and crunching numbers in front of them. He is a young impressionable lad and needs someone to talk sense with him, it's clear his dad has no respect for his sons financial status.

It looks as though he's got fed up with his current car, went to the supermarket on a whim and seen at a stretch he can afford this car on his monthly budget but hasn't considered his future. It's a shame because he will regret it, but 1000 people ripping into him on a computer hardware forum isn't going to help him, in fact if I was that lad I'd be pretty upset to be honest. Having someone there who is older, with more experience might just get him to take it back. Talking to the finance company is a good start, avoid car craft, they saw him coming and took him for all he's worth.

I've tried to be helpful but he had none of it. Why should someone go to his house only for him to go "lalalalala I'm happy leave me alone".

If you are that concerned why not add him to MSN and give him an E-Cuddle?

As for my car, it'll be gone soon. Much to my delight :)

Have you? Not that I could see, I could just see you trying to get one up on someone in front of the clique as I've seen in other threads.

Good to hear, what's next after the Fiesta?

Mildly amusing thread I guess, kid pays over the odds for a bog standard hatch from CarCraft, but not really news considering the many cars they sell to many daft people.

Not really worthy of Top Gear methinks...

Maybe not from a pointing and laughing standpoint, but certainly is worthy of highlighting how carcraft and the like are a bunch of ripoff merchants.

Oh I definately agree with that. Probably more suited to 5th Gear than Top Gear though.

One upmanship is really not my thing, I tried to point out to him his errors and my first post was begging for him to take it back. After that I just got fed up of his "it's only money" attitude.

Not sure what's next, I get the train to my new job so the need for a boring reliable econobox has gone \o/

I will use an example, Moeks posted a very similar thread, got blasted for it and then he cancelled the agreement saving him £0000's. He actually is in debt to us all :p A good grilling can be helpful for some people :)

I'm not going to continue this past this post, but that is indeed how you come across, and some of your posts are like the lurking legend of this section all too much ;)

I cycle to work for that privilige, If your in your 20's it might be time for a RWD 2 seater (Elise/MR2/S200/etc). Some excellent cars out their to be had for robbery prices. Skylines/200SX's/RX's/Celica GT4's/etc/etc the list goes on.

You might want to fix that :p

:D:D

I am a legend though...

... a legendary idiot :D

Insurance is an issue so I may be lurking towards an MX-5 or a MK2 Golf GTI for some retro fun :)

The MKII golf is horrific. The MX5 would be ideal if insurance is an issue. For what they are they are excellent, I was most impressed when I saw them at my last track day, lots of grip for a a car I thought would be awful.

Their reliability out-weights most other cars as well.

I'm laughing at the people claiming that they offered sound advice, but the OP wasn't 'receptive' to it..

If you came on a forum and everyone told you instantly that you 'FAIL' and started laughing, you'd pretty much go on the defensive immediately...

If people had been more 'understanding' and wheren't as rude and agressive as they where, then perhaps he could have been talked 'round.. you'd certainly have stood a much better chance..

Keep it all up though, the entertainment value is high, and I wonder how long before the next 'victim' comes along.. I could pre-write all the arguments/counters and who will say what when almost to the letter it's getting that predictable! time to mix it up, don't want it all going stale..
