Cinema annoyances...

Generally speaking the audiences round this way are pretty decent (surprise as you'd think yanks would be loud and annoying lol) but apart from cell phone texting, general kids now and then talking - trying to be cool in a group crap, it's good.
Although yesterday some big lady tripped up the side stairs with following popcorn spilled everywhere - but I enjoyed that one :D

Normally went on a Monday night, and it was always empty unless it was a school holiday, which was nice :D

But People is the main one... talking through the adverts i don't mind, but as soon as something appears on the screen that is relevant to the film, stfu.

Rustling continuosly annoys me, never really had issues of people kicking my seat though :)

I just get ***** off when you get scruffy chavs talking on their phone or just generally being loud pricks. If they keep it up long enough I fire some M&M's + Popcorn at their head. Priceless :D.

We went to see The Hangover last night but the cinema itself was actually the annoying factor. In the next screen they were showing Terminator so our whole area constantly rumbled and reverberated which many of the audience complained about. I ended up with a headache and it completely spoiled the film.

My worse experience of annoying people has to be when we went to see the second Jurassic Park and the ladies behind us talked throughout the film, especially talking about which films the actors had appeared in before. When we complained and asked them to keep the noise down, they couldn't see what they had done wrong.

Aside from the obvious people there's a couple of things:

- When the credits roll. I personally consider the credits part of the film and like to sit through them and reflect on the film. Staff these days seem to like to tidy the auditorium at this point and try and hurry you along. I also don't know why people are in such a rush to leave when the credits roll.
- Number of lights left on for aisles, fire exits etc are distracting.

One of my funniest, yet also annoying experience at the cinemas was the woman in front of me who every minute or so would stretch her arms up right in front of my line of view, bend her arms into a V shape and itch the absolute **** out of her head.

Sitting there all nice and comfortable

Some black guy with a massive Afro comes and sits in front of me :(

I moved, clearly racist :eek::o

People - that's the most annoying thing about going to the cinema. I hadn't been for years until recently and decided to go and see Wolverine and then Star Trek.

Bloody people in there being so ignorant, rustling wrappers, chatting and some silly bints phone went off in the middle of the film.

So irritating.

^^

This happened to me the other night.

Drives me mad I end up telling them to shut up or get out of the cinema:p

it doesn't really affect me... but i hate it when the cinema is empty, and there are a couple of people wandering around looking for their seat number, and are shouting to each other

"oh wait! i think these our our seats!"

"no they're over here honey!"

its like, the cinema isn't gonna fill up in 5 minutes before the film starts, sit anywhere!! god..

maybe im just a big grouch though :p

I love going to the cinema, but now try to pick early or late shows, so that there is the minimum of other people in there with me.

Pet hates:-

1. Talking - why pay money and then have a chat in the cinema.

2. Kicking the backs of chairs - why just why - went the other week to see Angels and Demons with my wife, old couple sit behind us, no problem I thought then his wife starts kicking the back of my chair, until I had a word.

3. Mobile phones - turn it off or put it on silent - for ***** sake and leave it in your pocket.

4. Food - you fat ******* be quite.

5. People with bladders the size of walnuts - just stay at home please.

A few years ago I would just let it go and sit there, now I will speak / shout at people, even to the point of getting the staff to throw people out!

went to see Transformers 2 on Friday and a lad behind me had his feet up on the back of my seat. This was fine as it didn't annoy me until he kicked it now and again. disrespectful.

For years and years I have moaned about how totally unenjoyable I find the whole cinema experience to be. The usual result of which is that I am in the wrong and that going to the cinema truly is an amazing experience.

This thread has shown me that I'm definitely not alone in my cinema loathing :)

Not speaking for anyone else obviously, but despite the gripes I personally mentioned, I far from loathe the cinema. Love it in fact, going at least once a week.

Biggest annoyance for me is lazy projectionists. It's really not that difficult to make sure that the images is in focus. Aside from that; bad sound quality, bad seats, 'coming attractions' and orange adverts, noisy people, smelly people, chavs. Other than that it's great. Tbh I mainly go to one of 2 cinemas. They're both expensive and generally show less mainstream films, tend to get a decent 'experience'.

Actually, that's a good point re non-mainstream cinemas. I find crowds tend to be much better, but they usually lack the leg room of the big cinema chains - a major annoyance for me, alas.
