Hi there, hoping for some advice.
I got a flat on my Renault scenic this afternoon, just down the road from my house. I've tried swopping to the spare tyre but one of the wheel nuts is round with a star shaped impression. Now obviously this needs some special key, which I've searched through the car and couldn't find at all.

Below is said nut

Unfortunately my breakdown cover from Admiral excludes issues where "the locking mechanisms for the wheels are not immediately available to remove the wheels"
I have used tyre weld to mend the hole, so should hopefully be able to hobble along a mile or two
What's my options, best to go to kwikfit ?

Spare wheel well, jack area? Anything in there? It'll just be a hex on one side and the special fitment you need on the other, it'll fit in the wheel brace.

Go to Renault. I broke my S-Class' key a while back, Mercedes had a huge bunch and removed the locking nuts for me for free.

Thanks guys, already turned the wheel well and jack/toolkit upside down looking for something remotely like that, no joy
Nearest Renault dealership is about 10 miles away, not gonna trust that tyre weld for that distance, but once I got this one fixed I will be paying them a visit to remove these from the other wheels or buy a fitting for this for future

Yeah, glove box. It should be somewhere. Did you get it from a dealer? They should have made sure you got it.

Check glove box too, i found mine hiding in there when i bought my car.

Posted my other post before I saw this
Thought I'd humour myself and have a look and in there is a little white plastic box, which in 1year and 4 months of owning this car I've never noticed
. Opened it up and hey presto, the tool to unscrew that nut

Thanks a lot for the advice, I'm kinda embarrassed that it was that easy to find and I couldn't on my own, but I've got it now and the wheel has come off and the spare go on

How do you guys drive a car?
I press the unlock button on my key, open the door, I get in, put the key in the ignition, start the car and from there it's pretty much 10 to 2 on the steering wheel, give it a little petrol and take foot of clutch, brake when I need to and change gears when needed. How does everyone else drive ?

Now to be fair, last car I had didn't have locking wheel nuts, this car has doesn't have the nuts on display and I just didn't know bout locking wheel nuts. I always made sure my spare was in good condition and I had the jack and wheel spanner there.

As for Tyre Weld, always have a can in the car but agree it's not a fix, I see it as the difference between doing a tyre change on the m25 and being able to drive on for a bit to find a better spot where you're less likely to have somebody mow you down

Guess I'll have to ditch the likes of Gadget show and Scrubs for more Top Gear

i lost my wheel locks not too not ago and got a mechanic to bash them out with this special tool.

ended up paying 20.00 pounds for a new set from ebay. the guy charged me 10 pounds to break them out.

now i make sure i am the only person that handles the wheel lock and i know exactly where i leave it.

good to hear you found yours.

At least the key was in the car.

They don't so much prevent people from taking the wheels, as make the alarm go off as the theif has to open the car.
